One thing about Mayock's rankings is that you've got to factor in that he's broken the defensive front seven down into specific positions and does not have guys listed twice. So a guy like Star Lotulelei would probably come in no later than third on his defensive tackle ranking, but since he has Star listed as a 3-4 DE, he won't list him twice and kept him off the DT list.

    Anyways, food for thought.

I guess Mayock didn't run this by Barry first.
    THOLTFAN81 and DE_Ramfan like this.
"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Based on tape study, NFL Films' Greg Cosell stated on Path to the Draft Thursday that Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib is his No. 1-rated draft-eligible quarterback.
Cosell agrees with Russ Lande of the National Football Post, who also grades Nassib as this year's top signal caller. Cosell cited Geno Smith's "slow eyes" in terms of anticipation and "ball location" on intermediate to deep throws as reasons for concern. "My No. 1 quarterback based on the film study I've done is Ryan Nassib," Cosell said. "I liked him overall more than Geno Smith. I think he's a much more precise intermediate thrower. I think the ball comes out with a little better velocity at the intermediate level. And I think he's a little more accurate. And I like his footwork a little bit better." Mar 21 - 6:58 PM

But I guess that's only good enough to be Tied for 5th best QB.....I love listening to this guy, he does great tape work but sometimes he doesn't explain himself in detail in a way for you to understand why he likes one prospect over another.

I think he lacks some communication skills but has great tape analytical skills

Which is odd when you consider how much time he spends on TV, between NFLN and broadcasting Notre Dame games. But I agree, I'd like to read more about his specific opinions about prospects.

Is Greg Cosell the son of Howard? Howard was a lawyer before entering broadcasting, that may explain some of the confusing communications.

I think Mayock's prospect analysis is pretty good. He's very informative on his Pro-Day visits. Just my opinion.

    Go Rams!

I feel like with Mayock, you've got to watch NFLN to get his thoughts. I can't always wrestle the remote away from my wife to catch him, so I'd like to see more of his thoughts in print. I also wish he put some descriptions in these rankings to give us a feel for his thoughts in this instance.

You're right he's strictly electronic. I wouldn't overlook the fact that NFLN probably controls his exposure. Meaning he may be contractually precluded from writing his opinions. You don't even see his thoughts on NFL.com. I do agree that it would be helpful if he was able to expound a bit more about why he feels certain ways about players.

    Go Rams!

I knew I had heard of his direct relations to Howard but forgot what it was... quoted from Greg's Bio.
' He is the Nephew of iconic broadcaster Howard Cosell ' Wah Lah! Or as Larry, Moe and Curley would have said: 'Quiet Numbskulls I'm Broadcasting!' Also Greg doesn't have quite the verbal flair his uncle had nor the heavy funny accent but Greg is someone I enjoy getting info and views from when they put him on. Kinda wish he had his own segment show...
