... the more impressed I am with Golden Tate.

Its almost shocking how often Clausen heaved the ball from his back foot only to be bailed out by Tate. Those kind of throws won't work in the NFL on a consistent basis.

If the Rams took Suh in the first round and Clausen somehow fell to #33, I would consider taking a shot on him. Otherwise... not interested.

It's what I have been saying since the offseason. At first I really wanted Clausen, because he came from pro style, and had weis as the coach. However when you look at game footage, Tate bails Clausen out of half the throws he makes. If there was a WR for the rams to grab in the second, it would be Tate by far.

Tate is underrated, and most people think Clausen makes Tate look good. In reality, Tate makes Clausen look good.

I think saying HALF of Clausen's throws is exaggerated naturally but I will admit he does make some ridiculous catches and escapes to bail out Clausen at times AND to turn completions into to Touchdowns. At the top of the second I'd love either Best or Tate. I'd probably die of pure joy if we pulled off Bradford and Tate...

Tate was no question the best player on the field in all of NDs games, no question, and I've made this point before, but the Clausen supporters don't want to hear it.

Unsubstantiated balderdash,imo. I think there are good arguments for not taking Clausen but Tate being the guy who made Clausen look good all on on his own is crazy talk.

Clausen completed 695 passes in his 3 yr career at ND. Only 157 were to Tate. Clausen threw for 60 TDs. Only 26 were to Tate. Clausen threw for over 8000 yds. Only 2700 of it was to Tate, etc, etc.

They had a great partnership, for sure, but who deserves quite a bit of credit for for all that production?

Just out of curiousity AV, how does all this film watching make you feel about Clausen?

I saw a lot of things I did not like. The biggest is that Clausen seems to throw off his back foot quite a bit, particularly on deep throws. While he was able to get away with this last year in college (again, often due to Tate's abilities), that won't work in the pros.

Also, pull up his highlight films and watch him from the time the ball is snapped to the time he throws the ball. He often seems to lock down on one receiver, rather than scanning the field. Again, that won't work in the pro game.

I think he has some raw talent. His arm might even be above average, strength wise. He is also fearless, which can, in some situations, be a good thing.

No way do I see him as a No. 1 overall guy, though. I think I'd rate him as a late first round prospect.

Golden Tate is my choice for the second round. But he's moving up in all the rankings I see and I doubt he will be there at #33. Arrelious Benn seems to be falling and might be there. But I'm not sold on him.

Isnt Tate a 5'9" or 5'10" WR. We already have Avery, I dont think getting another one is going to help us. JMO but if we go WR in this draft I hope we get someone with decent size 6' + who can be physical at the line.

yeah Clausen in the 2nd is the most I would give, hes NOT a #1 contender, imo

How many of the games you watched were after the injury? After injuring his toe, Clausen pretty dramatically changes his throwing motion. His accuracy was far less precise.

I don't mind Clausen physically. To me his negatives are all between the ears.

i did notice that whenever i see supposed "Clausen" highlights, he invariably hits Tate on a short pass who then makes people miss, breaks tackles and runs the ball in for the score

I believe he could play a bit of RB , and return kicks also.

Why not? Eli Manning has been making a pretty nice living doing just that.
