    Re: My Final Pre-Draft Poll

I like the idea of trading down and taking Carpenter. Rumor has it that tha draft is very deep at DB. Also - the likelihood of getting a starting LB is better than getting a starting DB in the NFL...imho

We could take Carpenter with something between 24 and 29. A trade like that could bring in an extra high 2nd or mid 2nd w/ high 3rd....or maybe a future low 1st.

All that AND the best pure SOLB in the draft....yea, I'll take it.
I like Ngata, but a trade down would be inour best interest I think. Really we haven't had to much luck with the D-Linemen in the early rounds!

Voted for Huff on this one. Realistically he should last longer than Davis or Hawk. My thinking is he could still be on the board at #8, and that small leap up wouldn't kill us.

He sure is, but he only spent one year with us. Rob Carpenter was a runningback with the Oilers (1977-81), New York Giants (1981-85), and Los Angeles Rams (1986).

    Re: My Final Pre-Draft Poll

Trade down and take Carpenter and grab an extra pick. I think that with the eventual signing of Jackson or Fisk, there is no need to draft a DT early.

My thoughts exactly, and I voted for Ngata too. Trading up for Hawk/Huff could be a good move too though, but that depends entirely on the cost, I fear the cost of Hawk will be too high. The draft looks quite strong in the 2nd/3rd round to me, so trade down + Carpenter might ultimately be the best move if we could get another 2nd rounder.

As long as we avoid Cutler (QB not a real need), Greenway (I don't think he has the talent we need) and Hill (CB not the biggest need on defense) at #11 there's a good chance I'll be happy with the choice.
