Re: My First Attempt At A 2009 Rams Mock Draft
To answer your question: In a word, NO!! I like the Oher pick but if Andre Smith, the OT from Alabama declares (and I fully expect him to), I would seriously consider him to be about equal to Oher and maybe even a better choice.
At any rate, whoever we pick I just want to hear the word "franchise" somewhere in his name.
WHAT SAY YE?

NOTE: My picks are all Seniors. Once Juniors start declaring, this could change.

Still need a SS... Chavous is now Cajun style for how long he's been done.
Maybe someone will be available in FA...

I'm with Teke on this. We need an overhaul on defense. I like that you added a MLB in the draft. However, I think we need an immediate starter.
Considering this is senior only, this is a very good mock Av.

Re: My First Attempt At A 2009 Rams Mock Draft
Nice cut there Av. We definitely must upgrade the MLB position. However, I think where Av has it filled is just fine. We don't need a worldbeater at MLB. We just need a bigger run stuffer in there, somebody who can shed a few tackles and play at the line. Moving Witherspoon to the outside spot, coupled with the aforementioned type of player in the middle, will do wonders for this defense ....
In conclusions, we don't need a pro bowler in the middle, we just need a hard hitter who can make an impact at the point of attack ...

McKillop is a tackling machine. Over the two seasons, I believe he is averaging over 12 tackles per game. He reminds me a bit of Dan Morgan (before all the injuries).

Re: My First Attempt At A 2009 Rams Mock Draft
Not sure that McKillop will still be available in the third round, as he's one of those buzz players at the moment who is climbing up draft boards.
Like most people, I'd also like us to seal a franchise left tackle in round one and it looks as though we'll be picking high enough to do that. I'd address the defence in the second round, with the BPA at DT, MLB or safety.

Re: My First Attempt At A 2009 Rams Mock Draft
Its, of course, nearly impossible to know where players will fall at this point. McKillop, if the draft were held right now with Seniors only, could certainly go in the first 2 rounds. As Juniors declare, though, he could get pushed to the top of the 3rd where the Rams will pick. All very speculative at this point, but he is the type of player I'd like to see on the Rams defense.

Re: My First Attempt At A 2009 Rams Mock Draft
Just curious, do we still have all of our picks for this years draft or have we traded some/gained some in the past few years?

Re: My First Attempt At A 2009 Rams Mock Draft
Can't argue with those first 3 rounds. Oher and Johnson should be pretty good value where we're picking. McKillop (who I've been a fan of), may not be there in the 3rd, but it could be a close one.

Re: My First Attempt At A 2009 Rams Mock Draft
Thats my main concern though. I really don't know if McKillop will be there in the third. If we lose out on him, who is our option?
I love the two OL in the first two rounds idea. We can still sign a top center in the free agency to boost our line. I'm seriously thinking we're going to add three new starters to this line next year.

I don't know much about the players you've listed, but positional wise... spot on!
