My Rams First 3 Round Mock

    Round 1

    Pick 2

    Jake Long [OT] Michigan

Projected to go early in the first, the Rams need protection up front and Jake is the #1 rated OT coming out of the NCAA.

    Round 2

    Pick 2

    Dan Connor [OLB] Penn State

Most mocks have him going late in the first, if he can slip, like Posluszny did last season we could have a great OLB on our hands.

Seeing as him slipping down is a big IF, I have another 2nd round pick prepared

    Pick 2b

    Chris Ellis [DE] Virginia Tech

The Rams need help with the pass rush and Chris Ellis could help fill the void.

    Round 3

    Pick 2

    Josh Barrett [SS] Arizona State

The Rams need a long term SS solution, Barrett is 6'2" 225lbs, has good size, speed and coverage skill (Mainly press coverage skill).

    Comments?

hopefully your assuming Chris Long is taken by Miami. Id rather have Lawrence Jackson over Connor and Ellis, because he is a great pass rusher with great size and is very stout against the run

I don't think Connor will drop that far at all. The Colts need LBs, just to name one team down there that could use him. Redskins, Jags, maybe more...

I don't like the first pick.

I could certainly live with Chris Ellis.

Agreed. We need DEFENSE. We can score OL later in the draft. Besides when the linemen we have now get healthy we're probably OK then.

    WHAT SAY YE?

    .
I have to read and watch a little video on Jake Long.

The things I've read on this site aren't too comforting.

Somewhere in the first four rounds we need to take an OG or C too. That area has just been neglected. McCollum and Stuessie couldn't get near a good team, no way, no how.

I've kinda got 2 takes on the draft (and about a dozen draft-day trade ideas, but we'll leave them be for now...)

    Safe draft:
    1st - Chris Long
2nd - Best OT available, hope for Sam Baker or Jeff Otah to drop, but happily settle for Chris Williams
    3rd - Josh Barrett

    More aggressive, risky draft:
    1st - Darren McFadden
    2nd - Derrick Harvey
    3rd - Chad Henne

That safe draft is solid, DCnH. We would be picking up arguably the best defensive player in the country, some much needed OL depth (Otah at #33 would be a dream come true...) and a solid SS to provide depth, maybe even start? I'd like to see us pick up a S in FA like a Gibril Wilson or Ken Hamlin and maybe draft a speed WR in the 3rd round.

I love that safe draft choice you got. you really cannot go wrong with that.

If we dont get the OT in second, we can always fish in the free agency pool.
