Name your first round pick.
Who is your first round pick...and why? Why do you guys want this guy as your choice, and what do you think he will bring to the team for years?
I personally still want Eugene Monroe. He's a monster. We need an OT to keep Bulger off his back.
This team is going to revolve around Steven Jackson. We need an OT to help with the running game and even the passing game because several passes are going Jackson's way.
We got rid of one of the all-time great Rams in Orlando Pace, it's time to find his replacement and Eugene Monroe will fill that hole perfectly.

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

For me it's between Monroe and Smith. I flipped a coin and came up with Monroe.
Either one will work for us. With Pace being let go and Barron's contract coming up we definitely need an impact OT right now.

I would like Smith. He's not as polished but has the mean streak Monroe lacks.... Give me attitude....

Re: Name your first round pick.
For me, its a toss up with Curry and Smith/Monroe. If Curry, I am hoping Beatty is there in the 2nd or a WR/CB ranked high on the Rams board. If Smith/Monroe, i am hoping for Lauranitis in the 2nd or WR/CB again.
There are sooooooo many possibilities in this draft that can help the Rams.

Re: Name your first round pick.
It's a cop-out, but I just want DeSpags to stick to their board. No picking on how friendly their agent is. No reaching for some position. No skipping down for some pet project. Stack the board, stick to the board. That's all I ask.
Stack the board. Stick to the board."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Name your first round pick.
My preferred scenario would probably involve trading back to pick up a few picks, and then target one of the top tier guys among the DE group (Sackpo, Jackson, Brown, Ayers, Maybin, English), or get us an NT in Raji.
Staying at #2, my pick would be Aaron Curry. I believe he gives us a chance to field not only elite-level playing abilities, but also leadership abilities.
What can I say>? I love me some D.
Edit: If we don't go Defense with the 1st pick, I want J. Smith.Last edited by #39 Fan; -04-14-2009 at 05:01 PM.

Re: Name your first round pick.
Well, I would WANT Curry; but the landscape of the draft and team needs forces me to take an OT pick, and grab a mlb in the 2nd or 3rd. So, as GM, I sit on my 'desires' and pick what's best for the team's future... Monroe.

Re: Name your first round pick.
THE RAMS SHOULD TAKE MARK SANCHEZ
Only if we trade down.

But with the 2nd pick the Rams should take Jason SMith. Ive beend going back and forth between Smith and Monroe and right now i think the rams should go Smith. Like you said Pace was dropped (i think Curry talks should stop cuz of it) so the Rams should take an LT. Monroe is more NFL ready but we are not a SB team next year. So we should build toward one with the LT with a higher upside.

Re: Name your first round pick.
I really want Curry. However, I feel that the Rams NEED Monroe more.

Re: Name your first round pick.
Aaron Curry, simply because I think he is the best stinking player available in this whole dang draft. He will add the much needed credibility that our defense has been lacking in years.

Re: Name your first round pick.
Curry is a luxury pick that we can not afford right now. Games are won in the trenches and with the line we have right now, we aren't likely to win many games. The pick has to be a OT and IMO Monroe is the best of the bunch

Re: Name your first round pick.
I still want the rams to get Monroe. The OL at the moment worries me, looking at the teams who have taken the top tackle in the draft have done well the following year (Browns - Joe Thomas, Dolphins - Jake Long). I suppose Smith wouldn't be a bad pick either...

Unless you count the most recent Super Bowl Champions. They won with a horrible O-line and a great Defense.Games are won in the trenches"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
