    Ndamukong Suh's Contract?

iight so 1 big reason ppl say getting Suh over a franchise QB is the money involved. That is why Bill Parcels took Jake Long over Matt Ryan.

Well do you think Ndamukong Suh will ask for Albert Haynsworth type money?

Last year #3 pick Tyson Jackson got 5 yrs 57 mill 31 mil guaranteed
08 our Chris Long pick #2 got 6 yr 56.5mill 29 mill guarenteed

Long was picked a year before and a pick before Tyson Jackson Yet Jackson got way more money. So obviously the price for draft picks are going up every year.

Albert Haynsworth got 100 mill for 7 years that is about 14 mill a year.

The way the money for the draft picks are rising and considering Suh would be a 1st pick and that Mike Crabtree's agent is Suh's agent the contract will probably be 5 years around 65 mill

THAT IS 13 MIL a YEAR!!!!

Obviously QB would be more but do you think we will have a problem signing SUH considering the price tag for a high pick D-lineman?

And therein lies the core problem with the NFL draft, and really the NFL salary system as a whole. Players are being rewarded for things they have yet to accomplish. There is really nothing we can do about other than make sure we draft a player that won't be a bust, and Suh is as sure fire as you get.

The price of this contract might be reason Rams trade down.

I want the RAMS to draft SUH. What will new Owners want.

    Re: Ndamukong Suh's Contract?

The problem exists not just for Suh but whomever the Rams pick. Jake Long's contract averaged $11.55 million a year. Stafford's averaged $12 million a year. Rookie contracts will continue to go up year to year until there is a wage scale, as agents will continue to try and get more money for their clients.

Suh's contract won't be a Haynesworth-like seven years or $100+ million because rookies don't sign for quite that long or that much yet, but a five or six year deal that averages between $12 or $13 million a year is probably what you're going to expect to see.

One could argue that having the first overall pick gives a slight advantage in this regard, because you can open negotiations sooner and with multiple players/agents.

    Re: Ndamukong Suh's Contract?

The problem for me isn't the size of the contract or years... it's the guaranteed money that needs fixing.

If the guaranteed money could be tied to performance it would help.

Suh does NOT have Crabtree's agent. He is merely represented by the same firm, without the outside people who surrounded Crabtree. There's a big difference in the two. I don't anticipate any of the same drama happening with this contract.

im not saying the drama will be a problem. Im saying there asking price will be a problem.

Something else to consider is with Long getting paid a bit under 10 mill and Suh getting paid 13 mill or more and AC near 5 mill how much money are we giving to the Defensive line? Also consider us getting a mid round rookie and cliff Ryans new deal.

    Suh 13mil
    Long 10mil
    AC 5mil
Ryan 3mil (he's probably gunna get around there)
    RE 1mil (starting RE)
    total 32mil

They better get the QB on every play.

We are investing close to 30 mil A YEAR.
