Which need is greater in Rd 2?
Spags has gone on record saying we need to get bigger on the line on both sides of the ball. Clearly we need at least one more OT and likely will take one two top tackles at #2 overall. Yes, I know many of you want Aaron Curry, but for the sake of argument, if the Rams take an OT at #2 overall, should we go NT or MLB with our 2nd round selection? Assuming Laurinaitis, Hood, and Brace are all available (and rated more or less evenly) do we go NT or MLB?
Disclaimer: We don't have access to the Rams' board, so this question is not about which one of the three players is rated highest on their board, rather which position do you feel is the greater need?
My preference would be beefing up the D-line simply because it all starts up front. I have watched our DL get blown off the ball too many times. It is hard for a linebacker to make plays while fighting off 300+ pounds linemen. Thoughts?
Could Ziggy Hood end up playing as effectively for us as Warren Sapp did for the Bucs?
Re: Which need is greater in Rd 2?
I agree that the D line is more important than LB, without some big boys taking up space the LBs get over run. That being said we have two starters at DT and one starter at LB. So for us, the bigger need has to LB, so if the value is right we should go linebacker.
Re: Which need is greater in Rd 2?
I agree with beefing up the D-Line first.
----BUT-----
What if the RAMS have the D-line and MLB positions ranked evenly as far as need goes?
Than we go for the " Best " player available at those positions?
Hmmmmmm......
Re: Which need is greater in Rd 2?
Laurinaitis I would take if there. I just don't see him getting out of round 1. If Hood and Brace are available I go Michael Johson he's the one you have to take. Think about a line with Long, Carriker & Johnson. Sounds pretty good to me...

I doubt that they will, but we can't possibly know that at least until after the draft. I am just curious as to fellow clannies opinions relating to: Are we better off fixing the D-line first, or MLB?

Well my premise was if they are all ranked more or less evenly so that the choice is not simply the player with the highest rating, which position should we address?
Re: Which need is greater in Rd 2?
DT, more specifically Brace.
On a side note, I would not touch Michael Johnson (Georgia Tech) with a ten foot pole in the first second or third round. He is not fond of contact.
Re: Which need is greater in Rd 2?
I'll have to go with D-line or DT/NT.
I like E. "ZIGGY" Hood in the 2nd. Brace might be there in 3rd but wouldn't take him in the 2nd "BPA".
I would rather go K. Britt or Robiski WR or even a Sean Smith DB.
Sean Smith CB/FS 6'4" 214LBS 4.47 , 40 Might take 2 to 3 years to develope into a shutdown corner like Bartel.
Always take the BPA in areas of need.
If the Rams have Smith rated higher than Hood or Britt you have to take him.
I still like Jasper Brinkley MLB in the 3rd round.
