Nick's "Nearly a Week Away" Two-Round NFL Mock & Full Rams Draft
We’re nearly a week away, and I’ve pumped out another two-round mock on how things may go down. The Rams’ picks didn’t change much from my previous projection; I only swapped the placement of the second-round choices. Where changes were made from my previous April 7th mock, I’ll note them with the pick. Otherwise, have at it!
Round One
1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
-Luck remains the top prospect in this class and the no-brainer selection for the Colts.
2. Washington Redskins (f/STL): Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
-This selection could be written in ink the moment Washington traded up.
3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT, USC
-Since I’m not projecting trades, I think the Vikings nab Kalil if they stay here.
4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
-Richardson is a Top Five prospect and would fill the void left by Peyton Hillis.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
-Claiborne would almost instantly become the top corner for the Buccaneers.
6. St. Louis Rams (f/WAS): Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
-Sam Bradford finally gets a legitimate weapon in the passing game.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina
-When push comes to shove, I think a defensive end wins out here.
8. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
-Miami looks like the best potential home for Texas A&M’s Tannehill.
9. Carolina Panthers: Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State
-Cox is still my highest ranked defensive tackle, making him the guy for Carolina.
10. Buffalo Bills: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
-Michael Floyd will get consideration here, but the need at tackle is too great to pass on Reiff.
11. Kansas City Chiefs: Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
(Previously OG DeCastro)
-The Chiefs may opt to find OL help later, instead electing to take the draft’s best inside linebacker.
12. Seattle Seahawks: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
-I like the fit of Coples with a Seahawks team in need of a versatile outside man.
13. Arizona Cardinals: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
(Previously LB Kuechly)
-With Kuechly off the board, I think the Cardinals will take Floyd over DeCastro here.
14. Dallas Cowboys: Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
-The addition of Poe could shift Ratliff to defensive end, where the Cowboys also need help.
15. Philadelphia Eagles: Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
-OL could get consideration here, but Brockers should help shore up the run defense.
16. New York Jets: Courtney Upshaw, LB, Alabama
-Pass rusher is a huge need in New York, making Upshaw a sensible selection.
17. Cincinnati Bengals (f/OAK): David DeCastro, OG, Stanford
(Previously OG Glenn)
-The Bengals are thrilled to see DeCastro still on the board for them here.
18. San Diego Chargers: Nick Perry, LB, USC
(Previously SS Barron)
-Former USC assistant Joe Barry is now on the Chargers’ staff. I bet he’d love to see a familiar face.
19. Chicago Bears: Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
(Previously WR Floyd)
-With Floyd off the board, the Bears turn to their defensive line and add some pass-rush help.
20. Tennessee Titans: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
(Previously DE Perry)
-Gilmore could be off the board earlier than this, but his addition will help fill the hole Finnegan left.
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Mark Barron, SS, Alabama
(Previously CB Gilmore)
-The Bengals cut Chris Crocker and could be starting Taylor Mays at strong safety. Need I say more?
22. Cleveland Browns (f/ ATL): Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
-Cordy Glenn gets strong consideration here to play RT, but ultimately, the Browns need weapons.
23. Detroit Lions: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
(Previously OT Martin)
-Hard to pass up on Martin, but Kirkpatrick gives the Lions a legitimate cornerback.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Cordy Glenn, OL, Georgia
(Previously LB Hightower)
-The Steelers are thrilled to have a chance at Glenn, who could start for them at guard or tackle.
25. Denver Broncos: Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State
-Tailback will get some consideration, but Worthy combines great value and need.
26. Houston Texans: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
(Previously WR Hill)
-A receiver makes sense, but the Texans also need to replace RT Eric Winston.
27. New England Patriots (f/ NO): Shea McClellin, LB, Boise State
(Previously LB Mercilus)
-I still have the Patriots going linebacker, but with Mercilus gone, they like the versatility of McClellin.
28. Green Bay Packers: Andre Branch, LB, Clemson
-The Packers would love to help their pass rush with this pick, and sure enough, they do.
29. Baltimore Ravens: Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
(Previously OG Silatolu)
-If Hill is on the board, he makes a lot of sense for a Ravens team in need of a third receiver.
30. San Francisco *****: Peter Konz, OL, Wisconsin
(Previously DL Reyes)
-Konz could step in right away at RG and also provide insurance at center behind Goodwin.
31. New England Patriots: Kendall Reyes, DL, Connecticut
(Previously CB Kirkpatrick)
-Reyes has the versatility to play inside in a four-man front or at end in a three-man front.
32. New York Giants: Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
-The Giants have a need at both tackle spots, so Adams won’t have trouble finding a home.
Round Two
33. St. Louis Rams: Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin
(Previously DT Thompson)
-With no capable starting LG, the Rams will give Zeitler a long look.
34. Indianapolis Colts: Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
-Pairing Luck with his college tight end makes a lot of sense for Indy.
35. Minnesota Vikings: Harrison Smith, SS, Notre Dame
(Previously WR Randle)
-Smith could sneak into the top half of the second round to a safety-needy team like the Vikings.
36. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Doug Martin, RB, Boise State
-Martin would be a nice selection here if Tampa has soured on Blount.
37. Cleveland Browns: Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
(Previously OT Massie)
-If the Browns don’t take a QB here, they may not get much of an upgrade over Colt.
38. Jacksonville Jaguars: Rueben Randle, WR, LSU
(Previously WR Jeffery)
-Randle is a contender for a first-round selection; the Jags are lucky to see him here.
39. St. Louis Rams (f/WAS): Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
(Previously OG Zeitler)
-Thompson on the nose should help the Rams improve their run defense.
40. Carolina Panthers: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
-Jenkins is a character risk, but he may be worth it to a Panther team in need of secondary help.
41. Buffalo Bills: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
(Previously LB David)
-The Bills passed on Floyd to take an OT in Round One, and are happy to see Jeffery here.
42. Miami Dolphins: Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse
(Previously WR Sanu)
-While Sanu still makes sense, Miami needs to add players who can rush the passer as well.
43. Seattle Seahawks: Dont’a Hightower, LB, Alabama
(Previously LB Brown)
-A bit of a slide for Hightower, but he’d be a great man in the middle for Seattle.
44. Kansas City Chiefs: Amini Silatolu, OG, Midwestern State
(Previously DB Dennard)
-Now the Chiefs turn to their need at OG by selecting a small-school guy in Silatolu.
45. Dallas Cowboys: Vinny Curry, LB, Marshall
(Previously C Konz)
-The Cowboys named Spencer their franchise player, but they’d like more of a pass rush from his side.
46. Philadelphia Eagles: Bobby Massie, OT, Mississippi
(Previously LB Wagner)
-Between Massie and Bell, you’d hope the Eagles sudden need at OT would be taken care of.
47. New York Jets: Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
(Previously SS Smith)
-With Smith off the board, the Jets fill their need at receiver by selecting Sanu.
48. New England Patriots (f/OAK): Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech
(Previously DT Still)
-The Patriots have needs at bother corner and safety; Hosley is the best DB on the board.
49. San Diego Chargers: Devon Still, DL, Penn State
(Previously LB Curry)
-Though the Chargers brought back Luis Castillo, they could use some more help up front.
50. Chicago Bears: Josh Robinson, CB, UCF
(Previously DE Jones)
-The Bears need a quality #2 corner, and Robinson turned heads with his 4.33 forty-yard dash.
51. Philadelphia Eagles (f/ARI): Lavonte David, LB, Nebraska
(Previously QB Weeden)
-The value of David here is solid, and the Eagles need more help at linebacker.
52. Tennessee Titans: Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina
(Previously CB Robinson)
-Will Witherspoon’s time as a starting LB in the league should be winding down.
53. Cincinnati Bengals: Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
(Previously RB Miller)
-Givens is solid value in the late second and could do some damage opposite A.J. Green.
54. Detroit Lions: Kelechi Osemele, OL, Iowa State
(Previously CB Hosley)
-Osemele could plug into the Lions’ line-up at either right guard or push for time at right tackle.
55. Atlanta Falcons: Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson
(Previously LB McClellin)
-The Falcons grab a talented tight end in Allen to groom behind Tony Gonzalez.
56. Pittsburgh Steelers: Alameda Ta'amu, DT, Washington
(Previously OL Osemele)
-Ta’amu may see himself pushed up boards due to the need for true nose guards.
57. Denver Broncos: Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
(Previously RB Wilson)
-Miller is in consideration for the Broncos’ first round pick, so he’s great value here.
58. Houston Texans: A.J. Jenkins, WR, Illinois
(Previously OG Brooks)
-The Texans prefer their receivers taller, but Jenkins brings a lot to their offense.
59. Green Bay Packers: Chris Polk, RB, Washington
-Ryan Grant is gone, so the Packers have a hole to fill in the backfield.
60. Baltimore Ravens: Mychal Kendricks, LB, California
(Previously WR Quick)
-The versatile Kendricks could help situationally while being groomed to replace Ray Lewis.
61. San Francisco *****: Jared Crick, DL, Nebraska
(Previously CB Johnson)
-Crick provides great depth to a ***** unit that is already a big strength.
62. New England Patriots: Alfonzo Dennard, DB, Nebraska
(Previously WR Givens)
-The Patriots already took one cornerback; Dennard could compete for them at safety.
63. New York Giants: David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech
(Previously TE Allen)
-With Brandon Jacobs gone, Ahmad Bradshaw may need someone to help share the load.
Remaining Rams Draft
Round 3: Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State
-Wagner is one of the best values on the board at the start of Round Three, and should compete to start immediaely for the Rams.
Round 4: Ronnie Hillman, RB, San Diego State
-The Rams and San Diego State runners have done well together in the past, right? Hillman is an intriguing mid-round prospect who broke some of Marshall's old records.
Round 6: Chris Greenwood, CB, Albion
-If Greenwood is still on the board here, he's worth considering given his physical tools (6'1", 193 lbs, 4.41 forty, 43" vert).
Round 7: Adrien Robinson, TE, Cincinnati
-Robinson put on an impressive show at his pro day, and the Rams aren't so stacked at tight end that he couldn't compete as a late-round body.
Round 7: Brad Nortman, P, Wisconsin
-With Donnie Jones elsewhere, the Rams may opt to take a gamble on a late-round punter to see if he sticks.

Re: Nick's "Nearly a Week Away" Two-Round NFL Mock & Full Rams Draft
Four starters in three rounds. Well done, sir.
P.S. If Weeden beats out McCoy, that Browns offense will be very young, but WOW....crazy explosive!
Re: Nick's "Nearly a Week Away" Two-Round NFL Mock & Full Rams Draft
I'm AvengerRam, and I approve of this Mock Draft.
Re: Nick's "Nearly a Week Away" Two-Round NFL Mock & Full Rams Draft
whiners --- Konz, Crick
cards --- Floyd
hawks --- Coples, Hightower
Whiners patched a couple holes, Cards got a counterpart to Fitz. But wow, the Hawks potentially took two large steps forward with their defense.

The worst part of the draft is seeing your rivals pick good players.
Re: Nick's "Nearly a Week Away" Two-Round NFL Mock & Full Rams Draft
Good one, Nick!
Nothing to complain about here.
Re: Nick's "Nearly a Week Away" Two-Round NFL Mock & Full Rams Draft
Nice mock, I noticed Konz made it back into the first RD. Both our lines would look pretty good after this draft.
