    Re: Nick's Post-Combine Two-Round Mock Draft

I don't think they'd have to trade for Campbell becuase at the spot the Jags are in now he is a reach. No Chad Henne? I think someone would trade up for Brohm

Well for one, I didn't say in my previous mock that he was good enough to go first overall. I said that he could shoot up boards with impressive workout numbers.

While he did impress at workouts, Chris Long did as well. Long showed enough to be considered an outside linebacker and IMO has always been rated above Gholston, so Long's the pick for Miami. With him off the board, I would hope the Rams' pick will be a decision between Jake Long and Vernon Gholston. I think either would be quality picks, but I leaned Long with this projection because I hadn't heard definitive news on Little.

Now that the news is breaking that Little will likely be let go - and of course breaking news on the Rams comes out hours after I finalize my latest projection - I'd probably switch up the pick to Gholston. He's below Long on my board right now, but fills the bigger need. And with a weak crop of pass rushers on the market, the Rams may be willing to reach a bit.

Perhaps. It depends on workouts and how teams view his potential. He has pretty massive size for the position, and teams like size.

Who takes him? I have him as a 2nd-3rd round prospect and he didn't make it into the second round because of other needs. KC needed to address OL, Atlanta got their QB, Carolina took Brohm, Chicago needed OL, Vikings needed pass rush help, Dolphins took Flacco. I'm sure you could make another projection and fit him into the second round, but in this one he didn't make it.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not sure anyone is so QB hungry that they'll trade up to get one. This isn't a top heavy QB class, but rather there's some decent depth. Teams may be willing to wait while addressing other more immediate needs.

According to my mock, they took Matt Ryan at the #3 slot.

EDIT: FWIW, my next mock will probably come sometime after free agency. Maybe the weekend of March 8-9.

    Nick, nice mock.

I take it you don't buy any of the "Ryan to Miami" rumours that are flying wall-to-wall?

After Chris Long's workout in Indy, you have to feel he's the top pick right now IMO.

    Re: Nick's Post-Combine Two-Round Mock Draft

I really like arizona taking chris johnson. I remember them spending a second round pick on an overrated running back a few years ago. :-) I hope he would turn out about the same production...which is none.

I like the Rams first two choices. I think Long is an instant starter on the offensive line, and I think Jackson could develop into a good player. The draft is deep at wide receiver and I think there are some guys that are sitting there in the third round that have the potential to be studs. The kid from Appalachian state comes to mind as does an SEC guy by the name of Earl Bennet :-)

But I see you have Ali Highsmith falling out of the first day. You think his lhigh fourty time will drop him that much?
The Roman and The Prince. Playmakers until the end.

Nick do you think the Rams might go WR in the second roumd now, that Bruce has been cut? James Hardy maybe...

Yep, it's a definite possibility. I like the value at WR in the second round.

That probably all depends on how many go in the 1st.

    Re: Nick's Post-Combine Two-Round Mock Draft

Considering how running back was one of the few "flaws" in the Patriots offense this year, are you sure the Patriots would trade away the chance to pick up the best running back in the draft?

Indeed it does. But I don't envision a lot of receivers going in the first, and even if they do, I think there are enough borderline 1st-2nd round guys that we'd find a good candidate at the top of round two.

I'm not sure about anything when it comes to the draft.

Running Back wasnt really a flaw in the Pats O last year though, its just that Maroney was not given that many carries when Brady was slinging the ball around to Moss, Welker, Watson etc

If McFadden is there when the Jets pick, he will be a jet. and I dont like the jackson pick, Id much rather go with Connor there and let Chillar walk. Connor is a beast.
