Re: Nick's Post-Free Agency Post-Pro Day First Round Mock Draft

id trade down if that was the case and try and get more picks,i know we suffered last year in not only against the rush but the passing game also but with the passing game i blame a large chunk of that on the lack of pressure put on opposition QB`s from the front 7 that gave them aslong as they wanted to find a free man,ok you could argue that if our dbs could cover better then there wouldnt be a free man period, but the way the rules are you cant pick up a WR and put them in your pocket!

if i had to rank our DB`S at present they would be ranked pretty low out of the 32 units in the nfl and if we drafted tye hill he would probably be our best CB but im hoping we pick up players for other positions!

i respect your opinion nick and agree that tye hill is a very good player, just giving my own opinion on who we should or shouldnt pick in the first round!

Well, you can see where I have him going, so I don't exactly like him as an option at 11th overall. Nor do we need a first round RB.

I'm just trying to figure out how Ernie Sims has risen so quickly. Did I miss something where the NCAA redid the season and Sims played better than both Greenway and Ryans?

Ahhh...how easily we forget the football players when the combine rolls around.

Hey, Nick... curious where you see Jason Allen of Tennessee. I see him as a early-mid 2nd rounder, and possibly a guy the Rams might give a look.

I see him going early round two, before the Rams pick. If you put a gun to my head, I'd say he could go to Arizona since they really don't have anyone playing next to Adrian Wilson. He could also go to Detroit if they don't land Huff in round one, San Fran if they don't upgrade their secondary in the first, or also Buffalo.

OK, let's ay we do go with Hill @ CB. What would our 2nd rd pick most likely be? Do you think we go with LB or DT?
    Thanks for your opinions.

This is my current seven-round Rams projection. I don't have the Rams going LB until the fourth because (1) I have other more talented players on the board that should be picked in the second and third and (2) I'm not convinced that one of the ideal SAM linebackers like Carpenter or Ryans will be available in the second.

We dont need amazing corners, we just need a solid D-line. Ngata or Buckley in the first.

Yeah, actually I think we do need one. Talk to non-Rams fans and they'll likely be rather underwhelmed by our personnel at cornerback. We have Jerametrius Butler and... who else?

Our top three corners (Butler, Fisher, Groce) are coming off of injured seasons, some more serious than others, and neither Groce nor Fisher are signed beyond 2006. Bartell has shown flashes but is overrated at this point by Rams fans - you'd think the kid made the Pro Bowl the way some talk about him.

We lost our best 2005 corner in Corey Ivy, and decided not to bring back Chris Johnson. We've added Fahkir Brown, another solid but unspectacular defensive back. We could use a true #1 cornerback capable of taking the opposition's best receiver out of the game. Imagine having that, starting Butler on the other side, with Bartell in the nickel. What was a modest unit now looks quite good under those circumstances. Hill isn't the most experienced player, but I don't see any reason why he couldn't compete for a starting spot opposite of Butler.

Furthermore, Bunkley doesn't fit the kind of player we're looking for to start opposite of Glover, and Ngata will likely be gone by our pick.

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the pure football players to the track stars. Chad Jackson? Overrated. He wont make the tough catch and he cant take a hit.

Brodrick, Tye, and Cutler all had very good Senior Bowl performances. Although with Cutler, I question whether he even showed as well as Croyle.

Antonio Cromartie? He's a risk. I dont know if I would take him as a first rounder. How well will his knee hold up? I dont know. He ran a fast 40 though, so I guess he must be good.

Why does it feel like track runners are going to start showing up at the combine and becoming first round draft picks?
