Josh Barrett, SS, Arizona State (6'2, 225) ran a 4.35 today
This is a guy I've had on my hot list for a while, and he could be a fast riser. I like the idea of a guy like this paired with Atogwe.
With his 40 time, I'm thinking he's going to be gone by the end of the second round, so the Rams would have to rethink their priorities a bit to go after him. Still, if they go with J.Long in the first and there are no pass rushers deemed worthy of the 33rd pick, Barrett might be a guy to consider.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Totally agree. If you read my mock titled "Jquarando's Best Mock Ever" I have the rams taking him with their second pick purely cause he wont make it to the third. This guy is a monster.

Hmm. I was watching that. And I think it'll be a good pick

Re: McFadden runs 4.33 in the 40 yard dash
If I were Miami I wouldn't take him. Ronnie Brown will be a very good back for them for many years and he showed a lot of promise last year - so I don't think they pick McFadden. They need a legitimate QB most of all - who have they had down there since Marino?
Miami may end up in the same position we are in if Long is gone - they may be looking to trade down (possibly with someone who wants McFadden real bad). If they are going for a QB they could decide that no one is good enough for the first overall pick and try to trade down I could see that happening if they can find a partner for the trade.
No matter how this goes I just hope we end up with Chris Long, he is exactly what we need IMO. If we don't get him it would be great to trade down with someone who wants McFadden and pick up someone else (perhaps Gholston).Last edited by RamOfDenmark; -02-26-2008 at 06:03 PM.

I think we should do whatever we can to get another 2nd round pick. There's going to be so much talent available at #33... Guys like the aforementioned Josh Barrett; Quentin Groves, a number of OTs could slip into the 2nd... I've even heard scouts and draftniks saying Kenny Phillips might slide a little to the top of the 2nd.
Trading down our 1st to pick up another 1st makes way too much sense for it not to happen.

Was it only me or did anyone else notice the Db's were blazing fast. So may 4.3's that has to be a record. That field must be on fire

Re: The Official 2008 NFL Combine Thread
Yeah, there were some fast ones. Arguably the top four corners all came in under 4.4.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: 4.33
Tracy Porter: 4.37
Leodis McKelvin, Leodis: 4.38
Mike Jenkins: 4.38
Cason ran faster than some expected, Flowers kind of disappointed. Barrett's time @ 223 pounds is very impressive.

Re: The Official 2008 NFL Combine Thread
Nick what do you think about Barret. I think if he wasn't injured his senior year and with the great combine he had he could have been a 1st round pick, because he was a beast his junior year, what do you think about him AV seems to like him also

Thank you, sir. The kid is a special player and I've enjoyed watching him play for my alma mater the last three years.
