Yes, according to the nay-sayers McD has taken control of the draft room while spags and devaney sob in the corner because McD is now in full control of the team. He basically just walked in and said "MOVE OVER! I'm picking guys, stupid ones who will ruin this team and there is nothing you can do!" Devaney tried to resist but McD punched him and took over.

OR Devaney isn't a moron and actually listens to his offensive coordinator on which players fit his system, and who doesn't actually have the horrific draft record of never picking a single player worth anything at any level of football that the doomsday people think.

Seriously, do some people actually believe that McD wrestled control of the draft room and is now calling the shots?

Just saw on espn, looks like we were just on the phone with Bama's Qb McElroy, telling him to sit tight and we were considering him. Hoping instead for an OLB or a RB like Derek Locke, who flashes a quick burst and would be a nice change of pace back.

That's exactly how it went. Didn't you see the ESPN footage with Devaney tied up and gagged in the corner. Mickey D was already Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach, then he added to his title Sith Lord of the Draft. Remember he was Belichick's Padawan.

Yeah, talk about 4 pillars. Herzlich fits. Too bad. Maybe UFA if that ever happens.

Re: The Official 2011 NFL Draft Discussion Thread

Here was my recap on another board:

"Its not necessary that the players are bad or of bad value, but that this draft doesn't make a lot of sense if you aren't going to be aggressive in the free agent market. This looks like a draft for a team looking to build depth, not one that needs starters. The Rams have clear needs for starter at OLB, S, and OG, not mention depth needs at RB and DT. Plus, while we've created competition at the WR spot, I still don't see a number starter. So I don't question the players, I don't understand the strategy (Benie's explanation notwithstanding)."

I'll also add that this means that our GM/Coach don't think much of our previous draft picks (Marty, Donnie...of course, Burton is already gone). I know that this draft was focused on improving the offense and I'm OK with that. I'm just not convinced this draft solves the problem and has potentially left us vulnerable in spots we could have filled. I hope I'm wrong.
