Not trying to troll. Just the last time i remember us selecting a good WR was Torry Holt and that was in the first.
o well maybe we can still draft Kendall Wright or Flloyd. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good WR in the first!
2nd round picks are gold, my friend. They frequently are the best value, because they can be 1st round talent that slipped and are now pissed at that fact, and usually outplay their draft position. Further, you can trade one for 1st rounders next year... how'd you like 3 1st's next year and still have 3 guys out of the first 2 rounds?
Give me 2nd rounders all day.

Cheifs taking Poe, nothing to worry about.

Yeah dude. We gave up drafting a can't miss shutdown corner to pair next to our existing Pro Bowl CB for the coveted #45 pick. And people are happy about this.
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Wow...this forum is just increasingly depressing. We haven't even picked a player yet and I'm seeing people write off the next year. Come on now. None of these players mean a damn until they prove themselves anyway.

Eagles trade up, presumably for Cox.

I really, really wanted Blackmon, and would have been very happy with Richardson or Claiborne. Loading up on later picks is never a sure fire way to load up on actual talent. I'm pretty upset.
If it's not Floyd at #14 it's going to be a mess. Then it all makes some sense. I agree that Claiborne would have filled a huge need also.

Dude. Give me Morris Claiborne over an extra 2nd rounder all day.
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Am I wrong? Didn't we trade down and JUST get the #45. If we got another pick, I might not be as mad

Yep, I don't even know why they have the second through seventh rounds. No one ever good comes from outside the top 10...:o
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I do find it amusing that people have started getting hysterical about the draft lottery and we haven't even picked a player yet.
We have so many issues that stockpiling picks is a sensible way to go.
When we start seeing who they pick then start getting hysterical, not before.

Here's the thing. The Rams would have it tough to win the division next year even with one difference maker. So how about you build quality throughout and then bring in the difference makers when you're ready for them? Long-term vision and I'm glad for it. Some might not like that dose of realism, but I'd prefer a slow, steady build leading to continued long-term success, than bringing in one or two big players who swim around in a pool of goldfish. AKA Steven Jackson, Sam Bradford. Two 'difference makers' who without equal quality around them on the offense are limited in terms of the impact they can have. Bringing the average level of ability up across the whole side and THEN adding your cherries on top is the sensible way to go, imo. If we get De Castro or Floyd, we've done exceptionally well. Not sexy, but great team building.
