Re: The Official 2012 St. Louis Rams Free Agent News Tracker
I like how people are saying we NEED Manningham.
No we need a couple of solid wide receivers not Manningham. Of course you can compare Manningham to any of our receivers in the last 5 years and he would look golden. However, as a receiver he is not what we need.
Re: The Official 2012 St. Louis Rams Free Agent News Tracker
By the way Scott Wells would be a solid pickup. That will be the Center starting position that can be filled for now for sure, draft someone in later rounds to learn from Scott...

"Miami defensive lineman Kendall Langford may not get out of Cincinnati, but if he does, he will visit Rams. No confirmed visit yet."

Wells is at Rams Park, per Jim Thomas.
Re: The Official 2012 St. Louis Rams Free Agent News Tracker
Sign him up and don't let him leave. Then we work with Winston and probalby don't have to worry about OL anymore???!!
Re: The Official 2012 St. Louis Rams Free Agent News Tracker
Former Giants/Eagles WR Steve Smith will be visiting today as well.

I'm intrigued, and I was last year as well. It goes without saying that the medical is going to be key for him. He put up 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns in 2009, so you know he has NFL ability, but he's not really been healthy since then. If he's healthy (big if) he could be worth a flier as a minimal risk signing that could really pay off.

True, seems like could be one of the best options left out there. Forgot he did so good in 09'.

Re: The Official 2012 St. Louis Rams Free Agent News Tracker
hopefully Steve Smith is healthy. definitely an upgrade from Brandon Gibson
Re: The Official 2012 St. Louis Rams Free Agent News Tracker
Shaun Hill at the right price is a really good signing. He's a great backup.
Langford is interesting, but if he wants the same amount of money as Jones I would rather have Jones.
Eric Winston wants to be the highest paid right tackle in the league. He better not look at how much Jason Smith is getting.
Re: The Official 2012 St. Louis Rams Free Agent News Tracker
Smith is getting a physical now, per Scheft on twitter.

Smith was supposed to be part of the dream team in Philadelphia last year, but his season mirrored the Eagles' season. Smith ended up on injured reserve with a bone bruise in the same left knee that cut off his 2010 season. Even before the injury, Smith rarely saw the field for the Eagles.
If he is healthy, Smith could be a real asset for the Rams. With the Giants in 2009, he caught 107 passes for 1,220 yards and seven touchdowns. Health is a big 'if' for Smith.
Smith was a very good possession receiver for the Giants. Even at just 5'11" he could work in traffic in the middle of the field.
Smith is the in the building at the same time as Packers center Scott Wells. Ideally, the Rams would prevent either player from leaving.
