Barrett Jones in Round 4.....absolutely love this pick!! Helps a place of need, versatility of position, great value in this place of the draft and a high quality athlete who's also a scholar athlete. Great pick Les & Jeff!!

    Go Rams!

We needed OL depth - Great pick Barrett Jones - Only question is you always wonder how good someone really is if they have exceptional talent around them. With Fluker and Womack as teammates you have to wonder how good Jones really is.

It is similar to the USC QB disease where people always wonder why USC QBs are no good in the NFL. It is because they had 8 seconds to throw the ball behind 1st round OLs and throwing to wide open 1st round WRs. It don't work that way in the NFL.

    We still need RB depth.

    Round Four Thoughts

To start, I was very high on Barrett Jones in December, as a Rams second round target even, based on his top intelligence, top character, and the fact that he played three different positions on a team nearly at a pro level of overall talent.

Then Jones, due to injury questions and a bad body, falls and falls to almost an after thought, but apparently not with Fisher and Snead, and OL coach Paul Boudreau, who will love this kid.

You wonder if the Steelers dealing up to get Shamarko Thomas, the only safety left that visited the Rams left on the board, just ahead of the Rams, might have altered their plans. The Steelers surely thought the Rams were going to take Thomas.

It's also clear that the Rams like Jones enough to not take Khaseem Greene, Phillip Thomas, or a RB at that spot.

In the end, I would not have argued with any OL pick there, as my belief is you take at least one in the top 4 rounds every year, as they are so hard to acquire when you really need one.

Guys like Bourdreau and Jim Hanifan can take a guy and make him a good player, even one with a bad body, like Andy McCollum, and Adam Timmerman, and Fred Miller, and Ryan Tucker. Barrett Jones is a near legend in Crimson Tide country, so why not, in round four take a guy with his intangibles and leadership skills to maybe anchor your line in a bit.

Round five and six will no doubt be mostly BPA, but I could see a CB, S, RB, or LB who plays ST being in the mix.

    My Personal Score

Always like to see how my top 32 compared to how many went round one, my next 32, (30 this year) as far as round two and then next 32 round three, four etc, to see how I fared.

This year I got 28 on my list of the top 32 going round one, just mising on Manuel, Pugh and Long, who I had right at the top of round two.

In round 2-3 my list of 65, prepared after round one, since there were three comp picks, saw 45 taken off the board those two rounds.

As far as round four, I got 22 of my top 36, since there were 4 comp picks, not bad for a
    4th round.

    Questions Anyone?

Heading down to Rams Park for the final comments from the coach and GM, and anything else i can ask them of Kevin Demoff.

If anyone has something they might want answered, just tweet me @BarryWaller2, and I'll try to get the question in.

Did the Vikes call us to trade back up into the first round and we passed?

    Re: Questions Anyone?

Planning on asking that one, but I doubt we get a straight answer on the record. Might have to corner Snead after the cameras are off. I know one thing for sure, the Steelers, clearly thinking the Rams or Oakland were taking Thomas, traded just enough to get ahead of them.

Since Thomas was the last safety who visited with the Rams, I think we can assume he, along with Jones, K. Holmes, Khaseem Green, Phillip Thomas, and a couple others, were right at the top of their draft board.

Whether Thomas was #1 by a mile, we will never know. Again, I cannot argue with anything that will help keep Sam Bradford upright.

<<Did the Vikes call us to trade back up into the first round and we passed? >> Already asked and answered. Snead said they got lots of calls, but once Ogletree was available, a guy they considered at 16,they quit answering.

    Re: Questions Anyone?

Without question, the Rams loved Lattimore, as it was well documented by Marcus himself. The Rams, Niners and one or two others gave him the most love. No surprise he went for a comp pick, basically a freebee.

I'd prefer Jones, or any of the other good players that can play now that were there at rd 4.

Maybe we get a RB here in rd 5
