Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 30th pick in the ClanRam Scouts Mock Draft, the New York Jets select:

    Phil Taylor, DT, Baylor
Rex Ryan will like Taylor, and not just because he'll look thinner standing next to him. Ryan's defense needs a big NT, and Kris Jenkins is the past, not the future.

Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 31st overall pick in the 2011 Clanram Scouts Mock Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

    Brandon Harris, CB, Miami

I have Harris rated a little higher than Jimmy Smith at the moment, and with Ike Taylor, arguably the Steelers best cover corner, scheduled for Free Agency, Harris makes a lot of sense. The cornerback position has been an Achilles heel for the storied Pittsburgh defense for a long time, and Harris has a ton of upside.

Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 32nd and last pick of the 1st round of the 2011 ClanRam Scouts Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers select:

    CHRISTIAN BALLARD, DT, IOWA

With DE Cullen Jenkins being a free agent the Packers feel like they need some insurance on the D-Line.
Ballard is a very athletic D-Lineman. He played DT for Iowa but will be moved to DE in the NFL. Ballard is a 6'4" - 295 lb player that ran an amazing 40 yard dash at the combine posting a time of 4.75 seconds!

With the 1st pick of the 2nd round (33rd) in the 2011 Clanram Scouts Mock Draft, the New England Patriots select:

    Danny Watkins OG, Baylor

This is (but could be argued isn't, given the holes in their defense), a no-brainer. One guard's retiring, the other one's pissed-off, and Brady's the Franchise, period. They won 14 games last year because of him. Better keep him healthy. They have enough picks left to grab a LB and/or DE (and/or WR/ and/or RB, for that matter).

    Collin Kapernick, QB, Nevada
Ryan Fitzpatrick is good backup/bridge type of QB. The Bills desperately need a franchise QB and Kapernick is a good fit. Kapernick stock has skyrocketed in the off season thanks to his strong arm mobility and size. Chan Gaily like mobile QBs so he gets the nod over Ryan Mallet who has character issues/ a statue in the pocket and Christian Ponder. He doesn't have to play right away behind Fitzpatrick so he will get some time to develop

With the 35th selection, the Cincy Bengals select:

    Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State

The Bengals need to get a QB in here, and fast. If Palmer stays true to his word, then Jay Gruden will need someone now. And from what's available, Ponder fits Gruden's system the best.

With the 36th pick, the Denver Broncos select...

Stephen Paea - DT - Oregon State

Denver passed on Marcell Dareus in the first round, electing to boost their secondary with the addition of Patrick Peterson. In the end, their strategy worked out, as they find a first-round talent on the board here in Paea. The Oregon State alum can anchor the inside of the their new 4-3 defensive scheme.

With the 37th pick, the Cleveland Browns select:

    Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh
After adding a pass rusher in Round 1, the Browns now get some help for Colt McCoy. Baldwin is not without his question marks, but if his personaliME can be reigned in, he could be a dangerous weapon in the Brown's new offense.

With the 38th overall selection in the 2011 Clanram Scouts Mock Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select:

    Clint Boling, OG, Georgia

The Cardinals need to shore up an offensive line that struggled to protect its various Quarterbacks last season. Arizona will give some thought to a QB, but I think that it's Gabbert or bust in the desert. Boling has the size and strength to be a force on the interior.

Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 39th pick, the Tennessee Titans select:

    Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas

When throwing the ball, Mallett was one of the most impressive QBs at the combine. When speaking he turned everyone off.

Luckily for Mallett, Tennessee is one of the teams in the NFL that doesn't care about character concerns. Whether it's drafting Pacman Jones, Kenny Britt or signing Randy Moss. The Titans need a QB and owner Bud Adams is willing to take another risk.

Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 40th pick of the ClanRam Scouts Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:

    Aaron Williams CB, Texas

The Cowboys thought about Wilson, decided (correctly) their LB corps was still solid, looked at LeShoure and Williams, decided (not necessarily correctly) they were OK at RB, and in the end went with Williams, to shore up a secondary that was pretty well scorched last year, even in the run heavy NFC East.

(Excuse the commentary-I know there's another thread).

    Leonrd Hankerson, WR, Miami
With Cam Newton falling to them they need to surround him with some weapons. Santana Moss is getting old and he is a free agent anyway. The Skins also don't have anything opposite him. They could also decide to patch up the O-line here.

Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 42nd pick, the Houston Texans select:

    Rahim Moore, S, UCLA

The Texans secondary is quite the mess, so at this point they look for the Best DB on the board. Some might argue the BDBA is not Moore, but rather Ras-I Dowling. Could go either way, but I think Moore is a slightly better option. A year ago, he looked like the best ballhawking safety in college, then this past season he played closer to the line, and looked more like a run-stuffing safety. Could go either way at the next level.

Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 43rd pick, the Minnesota Vikings select...

Justin Houston - DE - Georgia

While the Vikings still have Jared Allen on one side, the other defensive end position is up in the air. Starter Ray Edwards is likely going to test the market once free agency returns, and Everson Griffen has had the kind of offseason that causes you to lose your job. Brian Robinson's long-term extension won't be enough to cause Minnesota to pass on a talent like Houston here, whose value in the second round is off the charts in my opinion.

Re: Official ClanRam Scouts (2 Round) Mock Draft

With the 44th pick, the Detroit Lions select:

    Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina
This is a great fit for the Lions, and not merely because they know that Carter looks good in light blue. Carter was regarded as a first round talent before tearing his ACL at the end of last season. Absent a poor long-term medical prognosis, Carter is a very good value here, and should help the Lions further build their formidable front 7.
