2013 NFL Combine: Dion Jordan to have shoulder surgery
By Dane Brugler | NFLDraftScout.com Senior Analyst
    February 23, 2013 1:49 pm ET

INDIANAPOLIS -- Plagued by a right shoulder injury much of the season, Oregon pass rusher Dion Jordan will have surgery next week to repair a torn labrum. He plans to participate in every drill this week at the combine, excluding the bench press, and made a note to explain how excited he was to run.

The timetable for the surgery rehab is “three to four months,” according to Jordan, which would put him on track to be healthy for training camp in the summer. He played through the injury for the second half of the season after getting hurt in late October against Colorado while attempting to make a tackle.

A versatile prospect, Jordan played defensive end and linebacker in college, rushing the passer and dropping in coverage. He said he has received a lot of attention from NFL teams that utilize the 3-4 scheme that want him to play linebacker. Jordan agrees that scheme best fits his athleticism.

“The whole thing is getting after the quarterback so the pass rush is my No. 1 thing with my athleticism,” Jordan said.

Jordan is a potential top-10 pick in April, but the question now is can he stay healthy in the NFL?

2013 NFL Combine: Ignore slow time for D.J. Fluker
By Rob Rang | The Sports Xchange/CBSSports.com
    February 23, 2013 10:20 am ET

The lightning-fast 40-yard dash times posted by Arkansas Pine-Bluff's Terron Armstead, among others, will get plenty of buzz but it is important to keep a bit of perspective on a style of sprint no player will ever be asked to make in a game -- especially offensive linemen.

As such, throw out the "slow" times from Alabama right tackle D.J. Fluker, NFLDraftScout.com's No. 4 rated offensive tackle and No. 24 overall rated prospect.

At 6-foot-5 and 339 pounds, Fluker's game is based on power. So, when he was credited with an unofficial 5.32 second time in the 40-yard dash Saturday, scouts were hardly dropping his stock. After all, the Falcons' Sam Baker (5.43), Ravens' Michael Oher (5.34), *****' Anthony Davis (5.36) and Browns' Mitchell Schwartz (5.38) all posted similar times over the past five years and yet wound up among the top 37 picks of their respective draft classes. Each has since emerged as a quality starter for his respective NFL team.

Jake Long, the last non-quarterback to be drafted No. 1 overall, was clocked in at 5.22 seconds in 2008.

If there is a concern with Fluker's athleticism it is that he has limited initial quickness and flexibility. Speed rushers will give him problems off the edge. In the running game, however, he is a brutal assignment for defenders as he consistently is able to control the edge with his extraordinary reach (36 3/8 inches) and functional strength, including an explosive initial pop that simply doesn't translate well in the bench press, the only strength drill currently used at the combine. As such, the relatively low 21 repetitions Fluker posted Friday in the bench press won't harm his stock, either.

Assuming teams are satisfied with his medical (he missed the Senior Bowl with a groin pull), Fluker is a rock-solid first round prospect.

I know all pundits and such can't say enough that all evaluation is done and the combine is 10% of the grade and 90% is already there in film. Makes me wonder why their and our mocks closer to the draft are more accurate and still silly....

BUT my question is: Has Lane Johnson pushed Warmack into our arms at 16?

Apparently "at least 10 teams have removed Jarvis Jones from their draft boards". Wow. I pray to God that we are not one of them. Also, people expect for Jones to have a Da'Quan Bowers like drop on draft day. This is due to the spinal stenosis as well as skipping the combine, and not performing great at his future pro-day.

I REALLY hope he falls to us and we snag him!!!

    If you say so, Doctor.

A source I read had the Rams with 3 official combine meetings so far......Menlick Watson from FSU, Sheldon Richardson from 'Zou, and your boy Jarvis.

Rams might have been one of the 10.

Seriously? You know nothing about his health, and yet you're ready to draft him?

Barring he is ok (which I assume the Rams have formed their opinion on him), then yes. There is nothing left to uncover... Some teams doctors cleared the guy, and they'd spend a pick on him. Others are the opposite. It's not like next week we'll hear a new twist to the story. I just hope that we are one of the teams willing to take him, and that he has a nice, long, productive career.

Perhaps they were, who knows. If the team doctors cleared the guy and believe he can play for 10+ years, I have not a doubt in my mind that if he slips to 16 or 22 we wouldn't take him. If the doctors don't see him have a long and productive career, then the Rams could be one of the teams to totally wipe him off the board.

All I know is that Jeff Fisher has taken some risks before, and though this one may be of a different variety, its still the same concept.

Holy cow, watching combine live right now and Tavon Austin just ran an unofficial 4.25 on his first attempt of the day.

And holy cow again!!! Marquise Goodwin runs an unofficial 4.25 on first attempt as well!!!

Hopkins runs 4.50 unofficial on first attempt. Hunter coming up next, announcers debating if he dropped weight to run a faster speed today(weighed in at 197 lbs, 6'4). Was expected to be over 200 lbs.

    Re: Official Scouting Combine Thread

Between the OL and some of these WR numbers, I think people can officially stop using the "Indy's track is slow" excuse that's been floating around for a couple of years now. If any showing disproved it, this is the year to do it.
