    Maybe Slay. I don't want Vick. I'll also add Taurean Henderson, Centers Mike Degory and Donovan Raiola, and Returner Ashlan Davis.

    Rams | Team signs UDFA E. Nelson
    Sun, 30 Apr 2006 17:54:54 -0700

    The Associated Press reports the St. Louis Rams have signed undrafted rookie free agent TE Ed Nelson (Connecticut) to a two-year contract. No financial terms were disclosed. Nelson played basketball for Connecticut. "I didn't think I'd get drafted," said Nelson, expected to play tight end. "It's risky for a team to draft me, but a lot of teams know my potential."

    Rams | Teams signs UDFA Bagwell
    Sun, 30 Apr 2006 21:42:14 -0700

    Kevin Gorman, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports the St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms with undrafted rookie free agent RB Antoine Bagwell (California University of Pennsylvania). Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Bagwell was a two-time Division II All-American and was a regional finalist for the Harlon Hill Award.

    From SI
    Antoine Bagwell Grade: 2.96
    Position: RB
    Class: Jr
    School: California (PA)
    Conference: -
    Ht., Wt.: 5-11, 180
    40 Time: 4.45
    Grading System

    BIO: Two-time P.S.A.C. Player of the Year. Finished his senior season leading the team with 186/1,588/21 rushing, also accumulating 28/420/4 as a receiver. Junior totals included 246/1,765/20 on the ground.

    POSITIVES: Productive ball handler with possibilities as a third-down back in the NFL. Patient, waits for blocks to develop, then wiggles through the small creases in the defense. Quickly cuts back in a small area making defenders miss and has the agility to get around the corner. Runs with terrific balance and body control.

    NEGATIVES: Lacks great open field speed and cannot run to daylight. Has an upright style that leads to big hits.

    ANALYSIS: A consistent ball carrier in college, Bagwell must display reliable hands during summer camp and show versatility as a return specialist to stick on NFL roster.

    PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent

    Antoine Bagwell Signs Free Agent Contract With St. Louis Rams

    California University's two-time consensus Division II All-American running back Antoine Bagwell (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams Sunday after the completion of the annual NFL draft.

    Bagwell, who was hoping to become the second Vulcan ever selected in the draft, will join a team that finished with a 6-10 overall record last year and finished second in the NFC West behind Seattle.

    The Rams have played in the Super Bowl twice in the last seven years, winning the title in 1999 under coach Dick Vermeil and losing to New England in 2001.

    Bagwell is a consensus All-American running back the past two seasons while Cook is a three-time All-PSAC defensive back. They both contributed to Cal's 8-2 season that included the 2005 PSAC West championship, the team's first title since 1984.

    Bagwell's 2005 list of honors is extensive and impressive:

    * PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year (for the second-straight year)
    * PSAC West first-team all-star (for the second-straight year)
    * Northeast Regional Finalist for the Harlon Hill Award (for the second-straight year)
    * First-team American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American
    * Played in the Hula Bowl (Jan. 21 in Hawaii)
    * Played in the Cactus Bowl (Jan. 6 in Arizona)
    * Associated Press second-team Little All-America (for the second-straight year)
    * Daktronics second-team All-America (for the second-straight year)
    * D2 Football.com second-team All-America (for the second-straight year)

    He is the first Vulcan ever invited to play in the Hula Bowl and is just the third Vulcan to play in a predominantly Division I all-star game in this decade. He is also the second Cal player to be named a first-team AFCA All-American, along with WR Perry Kemp in 1983. Kemp went on to a long and distinguished career in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers.

    Bagwell ranked third in the country in scoring (15.2), fifth in rushing (158.8) and fifth in all-purpose yards (206.2) this season. He raised his 20-game career totals to 3,353 rushing yards, 3,956 all-purpose yards and 45 touchdowns and ranks second in Cal history in all three categories.

    He tied a team record with five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) in a game vs. Clarion, and he broke the Cal records for single-season touchdowns (25) and points (152) this season.

    He rushed for more than 100 yards in 18 of his 20 career games (nine each season) and eclipsed the 200-yard rushing barrier six times. He also registered more than 200 all-purpose yards eight times while wearing a Cal uniform.

    The Vulcans finished the season ranked 11th nationally in total offense (462.4 ypg.), 17th in rushing offense (226.1 ypg.) and sixth in scoring offense (42.1 ppg.).

    Cal, which scored 36 or more points eight times in 10 games in 2005, broke the team record for points scored in a season (421) only one year after setting the record at 365. It’s only the fifth time in team history Cal scored more than 300 points in a season.

    The only player in Cal history to be selected in the NFL draft is Elmo Natali (Cleveland, 10th round in 1953).

    Other Vulcans who have played in the NFL after signing as free agents include wide receiver Perry Kemp, who played for the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Brown, along with Terry O’Shea, a tight end for two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and defensive back Bob McDonough, who played for the Detroit Lions during the 1987 strike season.

    Undrafted prospects

    As usual, there are some good players that went undrafted.
    Kai Parham & Anwar Phillips are two that I think could help the Rams. I wonder if we'll pick up any undrafted players?
