OG Evan Mathis on Trade Block

" The Eagles have placed LG Evan Mathis on the trade block. The story has been reported by both NFL Network and the Philly Inquirer. Both outlets report Mathis wants a raise on his scheduled $5 million salary. Mathis was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2013 and has been one of the best guards in football the past three seasons. Mathis saw LT Jason Peters and C Jason Kelce get extensions earlier this offseason, and apparently felt snubbed when his contract wasn't addressed. Mathis is entering his age-33 season. "

"Eagles are seeking a 3d round pick for Evan Mathis. Possibly would take a 4th. Otherwise teams figure Philly holds on to him"

    - Jason La Canfora

He's been arguably the best if not the best OG in the NFL the past 2 years. Should we have any interest in Mathis?

He's 33 so he's only good for a few years at best. Tough call.

Reports indicate they're asking for a third round pick. Seems steep for a guy his age who is going to want a new deal. I'll pass.

I'm with Nick. Great player, but wants more than $5 million this year(ouch) and is old(which is why he wants more money this year). That tends to make me pass right there. Oh, and we have to give up at best, a 4th round pick for him? No way.

I'll give you a 6, a bag of cheetos, and he drops to <$4M cap hit? Okay, we have a deal.
    I believe!

Yeah, that sounds great, package him with DeSean Jackson and let's spend $15 million against the cap and give away a 3/4 round draft pick.

    Not bloody likely!!

    Go Rams!

    dunno-- I think Id pass.

For the last few years thats all we do is 'buy' older OL who do not produce the way they had produced elsewhere.

Good OLman are a lot easier to find and mold via the draft than skill positions IMO.

We don't have the money for him even if we were interested. And he'd have to be more like 27, for us to give up a 3rd rounder, IMO.
