Ok here is my question. Phins take Matt Ryan QB, the board is ours, and we can get anyone we want. Who would you pick after the combine?

Chris Long with out a doubt. He would be penciled in for years to come, not to mention it's a huge need for the Rams.
But I would not be upset at any of the rest of them. As far as Gholston goes, I would be very happy with him & an extra pick, but the problem is you have to have someone to trade down with, & there hasn't been any movement of the top 6 or 7 for the past 4 years. I believe its due to the high price of signing an unknown commodity in the NFL.
Woops, I grabbed the wrong Long... Oh well.
What kind of numbers do you see Long getting in his first year? Sacks? How many sacks per year do you see him getting after two or three years, once he's played in the NFL for awhile?Quote:

The guy I would take: Chris Long
The guy I think the Rams will take: Jake Long
I would be very happy with 8-10 sacks, but his real value will be when he puts pressure on the QB & gets him to throw sooner than he wants & that will put our corners in position to make some plays. Also tackles behind the line stuffing a RB, knocking down passes, demanding dbl. teams to free up others on the line. These are the lil things he can do & we need in a big way to make the D-line better.
I will buy that, not sure he will get 8 sacks his first year, but he should do everything else, you stated.Quote:

chris Long Little will be leaving soon and we have 0 outside pass rush.
Are these great numbers?
2004 1 sack
2005 2 sacks
2006 4 sacks
2007 14 sacks
Jake Long
For reasons I mentioned in the Mike Maylock thread.
Rambos, chris long played in a 3-4 his first 3 years, so he was mostley defending against the run, while the linebackers were rushing the passer.
His senior year they switched to a 4-3, therefore allowing him to get to the qb, that's why the numbers took such a big jump.
Chris Long in a heartbeat. He's a great player, and we need a DE on the otherside of Little. And when Little goes out in a few years, we already have a good DE position. We'll just need to get a new one on the other side of Long in a few years. But Chris Long is the best option.
Even more than Jake Long, who is thought to be a can't miss prospect, Chris Long is a player who cannot, will not fail in the NFL. I can't say that he's a sure fire hall of famer, but Chris will do everything in his power to be the best he can be for whoever picks him up, which is why I am sad to think that the Dolphins may pick him up. I regard him as the Peyton Manning of defenders, and in his first practice ever in football, he was asked to get into position for a defensive lineman and his coach's jaw just dropped. "Oh my god, that's Howie Long!", he remembers thinking. Even without any training, he was already ready for the position.
If Chris is there at #2, if we take anyone else it's a crime.
Dorsey. I just think he's the best defensive player to come out of college this decade.
Both Longs or Gholston will be fine with me.
