OLB Manny Lawson as free agent pick up?
Whenever free agency starts.
What about OLB Manny Lawson as a free agent pick up. I think he would do a good job as a 4-3 OLB. He covers well, good against the run & won't cost a fortune. It would hurt a divisional rival.
The Whiners would have to fill another need.
He's just not a good 3-4 OLB that rushes the QB.
What say Ye?

I have also heard the same thing that he would be a good fit as a 4-3 OLB. I say you bring him in for a work out and have a closer look.

That's a possibility. He's 1 of 4, maybe 5 OLBs on the market that could benefit the Rams. An argument could be made that he is the best of those 4 or 5 as well.

Re: OLB Manny Lawson as free agent pick up?
Its an interesting thought, but I wonder if he's a good fit. Lawson started college as an OLB, and then moved to DE, which is why he was viewed as a 3-4 OLB coming out of school. Maybe he really does belong as an OLB in a 4-3.

Always a benefit to bring in a guy that would be an upgrade for our LB's, is known as a pass rusher, and would take away from a division rival.
(Heck look below this thread at all the "Manny Lawson at #11, Draft manny Lawson! etc. haha circa 2006)

Re: OLB Manny Lawson as free agent pick up?
I like speed, therefore I like Manny Lawson.
I always viewed him as a sub par, yet prototypical 3-4 olb, but if Spags thinks he can play in our system, I would be all for it.
We need more physical freaks on our team, notably our defense. I'm tired of seeing speedy running backs torch us in the flats for easy first downs. I could tolerate it if their names were Chris Johnson or Jamal Charles, not Stephen Something Howling and Leon Washington.

Re: OLB Manny Lawson as free agent pick up?
I'd still like OLB Manny Lawson as a strong side OLB on the Rams . He played for the Bengals this year and played well. He fits good in the 4-3 system showed it with the bengals.
My last years option at OLB. Would have been alot better than Popinga and other mistake made by Devaney.

Re: OLB Manny Lawson as free agent pick up?
That would be fine with me, as an NC State football fan I give this guy nothing but love. What people don't realize is Manny Lawson is very good. He was just overshadowed since he played on the other side of Mario Williams at NC State. Ofcourse Mario was picked #1 overall that year, Manny was picked I think #21 overall.
Either way, I used to think he is just good as a DE and not as OLB but he is proving me wrong these days. I would love to have him as our OLB.The Kroenke-Snead-Fisher-Bradford Era

Re: OLB Manny Lawson as free agent pick up?
From what I can find, he's received minimal interest on the free agent market so far, so he could probably be had for very little. Could be worth a look if Fisher thinks he fits the scheme.

Re: OLB Manny Lawson as free agent pick up?
I am not so sure about his pass coverage abilities?? I haven't kept up with him for over a few years. He has always been a DE in my eyes, wondering if he can pull off being an OLB especially strong-side? But you guys here seem to think he can?
