One More Reason For Rams NOT To Take a QB High in 2014

Actually it's a number of reasons in one, a number of PLAYERS at the QB position that are better prospects than this year's crop who look ro come out in 2015.

If all eight of the teams needing QBs get one this year, not to mention veterans who might fill positions on teams needing QB in 2015, guys unsigned like Alex Smith, or guys replaced by rookies drafted this year, the needs won't be there at that position in 2015.

NEXT year is when t hey will need to make a decision ob Br adford, AFTER he shows he is healthy and plays well.

If he does NOT, the Rams have a high pick in 2015, surely high enough to get their next QB if Bradford isn't the guy.

Maybe a guy they take later this year turns out to be a steal too, but if that need is great in 2015, you have your choice of Brett Hundley, Marcus Mariotta, Kevin Hogan, Jeff Driskel and of course Jameis Winston.

And that's BEFORE some other NCAA passer bursts on the scene like Bortles, or Garopollo did this year.

That future bumper crop of QBs in what should be a weaker draft than 2014 overall would be a Godsend for the Rams if they really want to move on from Bradford.

Even if the Rams draft a QB now, he won't play much, if at all in 2014, another reason to wait till this big, strong armed, and mobile group hits the draft in 2015.

That's a very sound point because we may only get a quality back-up this year whereas next year we could get a bona fide starter. I would also add Sean Manion, Oregon State to the list of QB's available next year. Don't overlook trades of QB's this year such as Mike Glennon or Kirk Cousins.

Brett Hundley, Marcus Mariotta, Kevin Hogan, Jeff Driskel and of course Jameis Winston = How many are going to be rated higher than Teddy Bridgewater was 3 months ago?

I am in agreement to give Bradford who will more in likely get a good OL and maybe WR. If healthy he drops the ball in performance, or gets injured yet again then next yr will be QB for sure.

This is the argument that was made by many last year, I believe. So much can change in a year, it's hard to bank on some guarantee being there the following draft.

To answer the Bridgewater question, he was considered the top guy in a pretty weak year at Qb in projections, UNLESS Brett Hundley and MArcus Mariata came out.

Look at the 2 year numbers Bridewater was coming off after 2012 compared to the 2012-2013 seasons of those two guys

    Bridewater - 31TD 20 INT 1 rushing TD
    Hundley - 53 TD 20 INT 20 rushing TD
    Mariota - 63 TD 10 INT 14 rushing TD

Add in their measurables and those two would have clearly been rated over Bridgewater in this draft, let alone after another year in major college football.

Stanford's Kevin Hogan hasn't started long, so his 20 TD 10 INT 2TD season isn't the main thing making him a far better prospect already than Bridgewater. It's his immense measurables and smarts.

Obviously Jameis Winston would have been rated far ahead of Bridgewater already.

These four could come in to the next draft with near RGIII/Andrew Luck type ratings.

All four are "clean" as far as football questions, and only Winston may see character drop him.

All are way better prospects now than Bridgewater ever was or will ever be.

To expand on that, I believe this argument is made nearly every year, with the year Luck and RGIII came out as perhaps the only exception in recent memory.
