Our draft success sucks!!! Pls read this!!!

All this latest draft talk has left me puzzled. I'm going to get like Jim Rome . Here's what Im burning on:-

    1) DE/DT/ the whole d line- We all know what Suh could and would bring to this team. I dont know if I brought this up before, but Little (35) and Hall ( 33) might now be here next year. IF THEY AREN'T,and we drafted say, Ndamakong Suh, we would have NO ONE TO play right end and no one to help Long on the left when he is NOT in the game. IS THIS NOT A BURNING CONCERN FOR THIS TEAM? I want a decent pass rush next year if nothing else. As a matter of fact, why cant this team have at least ONE GOOD SURE PRODUCT next year ( eg good o line or a good pass rush or good playmaking WR or a lockdown corner or something)? I know it DEFINITELY wont be all because we have too much holes to fill, but we can at least have ONE good thing RIGHt?

    2) O LINE- I dont care about anything what was said about how good or bad this line is, but it would seem to me that in 2009 it was BELOW AVERAGE at best. Some of us say it was pretty good? HOW IS THAT? We gave up 44 sacks ( 25th worst in the NFL) and 98 hits ( 30th worst I think). THAT IS HORRIBLE. It is and you know it. There is no sugar coating it. I am sick and tired of hearing about injuries. yes they exist, but how much longer are we gonna keep getting injured. YOU know what ticks me off about the line situation? In another thread we mentioned Jason Brown in a thread called "HOW BAD IS THE OFFENSIVE LINE" Well, someone brought his durability into question, and I totally agree. He missed almost half of last season, never really impressed me, and got a concussion that most considered " mild". Jacob Bell has not shown greatness yet, Alex barron is a bonehead, and Jason brown was the only real SOLID link on the line. Cogs was also good, but who wants that attitude?

and the thing is, how can you expect to bring in a Sam Bradford if we havent even shored up the O-line? TOTAL NONSENSE I WOULD NOT DO THAT IF I WERE DEVANEY. as a matter of fact, how can you expect to play at a high level in this league if your line is not as great as a Colts, Pats, or New Orleans line ( all these teams had league lows in sacks allowed in 2009; near the top)

    3) QB- We by now should have nothing but respect for Bulger, his leadership qualities, poise, and toughness. We should also know by now that he wasnt exactly the greatest decision maker/improviser in the pocket. I wouldnt mind at all if he is the starter in 2010, but I really dont think that would be best for this franchise. Our QB status is up in the air at this point, with no parachute landing nowhere in sight. But I do NOT hate Bulger. He did everything he could with the little weapons he had around him. That being said, its probably best to move on.

    4) LB - OH this one puzzles me greatly! I saw the article on another thread talking about potential rams draftees for the LB position, like Sean Weatherspoon, etc. ). The person mentioned Paris Lenon leaving, and David Vobora being " LESS THAN IDEAL" What is THAT nonsense supposed to mean? What makes a LB a stud LB anyways? Stats? I thought we said stats dont tell the whole story, yet we always refer back to it. So what makes Vobora LESS THAN ideal? Because he didnt do anything special? If thats the logic then I completely understand. However, further boiling my pot, isnt that the whole point? How can you say that? So, let me guess, if we draft weatherspoon in say the second round ( if hes still there anyways) and he has no better a year than any other LB, what will we say then ? How can you just go out there and eye pick the GOOD GUYS when they havent even played an NFL down yet?

    5) WR- another hot topic. ITs been said that we have no playmakers at the position. WHY IS THAT? Because no one had a 1000 yard season or a 10 td season? because they were always injured? the line wasnt so great' maybe you might want to put some blame on that. If we draft a WR in rd 2 and he doesnt pan out, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with this teams "luck". If he has a good or great season, then I will be convinced ( although really angry) that our current group sucks. but how can they suck? Brandon Gibson is a big target with some good games, amendola is a nice slot receiver, and avery is a nice number 2. What makes a receiver a PLAYMAKER?

    6) RB- Last but not least, we def need a backup to Steven Jackson.( our offensive beast at this point) But why is that? Because Kenneth Darby, Antonio Pittman, Samkon Gado, etc. did not pan out? Exactl the reason, but yet another mystery.

I'm not so sure you are seeing my point, guys. Regardless of who is or has been in office, our draft luck and success has been SUCKY IMHO. WHY is the question I cant seem to get the answer to or come up with the answer to. WHy do we have to constantly draft players because the ones we have dont live up to the expectations is BEYOND me.

Lets look at it. Jason Smith is a big question mark. If he does not have a good season, he would have essentially wasted our number 2 pick from last year that EVERYONE suggested we get. We cant seem to get a good player from the draft whether EVERYOne likes him ( top consenus picks) or whether WE like him. ITS JUST SO FRUSTRATING AND A REAL SETBACK and REASON AS to why we are where we are right now. It was clear we needed a LT, so why in the heckl is he not playing like a first round pick? WHY? Chris Ogbonnaya was drafted to backup steven jackson. Where is he now? UNHEARD OF. ( even though he was drafted in the 7th, still no excuse as to why we have not even heard from him last year) THE LIST GOES ON AND ON.

BOTTOM LINE: HOw can we expect to build this franchise back to winning if our draft picks and FA moves are not performing the way they were brought in to do? SERIOUS QUESTION here guys because I am actually scared of the draft other than maybe the first pick. I love James Laurinitis, the only pick i can say I feel good about last year. I am still waiting to see the production of Chris Long, but I feel that will only come with a dominating DT. We have not signed any big name players, and once again I feel that is a money issue. We only sign players who were cut from or left another team.

Your random rants aside, let's put things into perspective, shall we?

The current regime of Spags/Devaney has had one offseason to work with. Let's take a look at what they did.

Jason Smith: he showed a lot of promise before he suffered the concussion. There is no reason to presume at this point that he will be a wasted pick.

    James Laurinaitis: great selection.

Brad Fletcher: showed a lot of promise before unfortunate injury.

Darrell Scott: started slow, showed some potential toward the end of the year.

    Jason Brown: Great FA signing.

Kyle Boller: did not produce, but they were smart enough not to give him a long term deal, so there's no real harm there.

Witherspoon trade: seems like a good deal at this point.

Let Holt, Pace, Draft, T.Hill and Incognito go: as of today, they are all unemployed. What does that tell you?

We all want quick fixes, but that's not the way the world works. Be patient.

Or keep screaming... if it makes you feel better.

*sigh*You ranted about so many random points I'm not sure where to tear this thread apart at...

You don't evaluate whether a pick is wasted or not based on 1 rookie year. Msith's concussion was not considered mild it was severe and he was cleared to play towards the end of teh season and is ready now. How is he injury prone because he got knee'd to the head one time and has no injury history before that to speak of..

I'll just leave it at that because I'm hungry. Your ogbonnaya point is pretty silly as well. He was a 7th round rookie pick and when he he went in at the end of the season he did pretty good and showed some catching and slashing ability in the run game.

Like Av said there are no quick fixes that last. Go freeze your self or something and we'll just thaw you out when the Rams get better since it seems you are freaking out...

    2) 44 sacks. Yet, you ignore the fact that the last 1/3 of our season, we had 1 healthy starter playing, and had Roger Allen, Phil Trautwein, and Adam Goldberg playing.

    4) "How can you just go out there and eye pick the GOOD GUYS when they havent even played an NFL down yet?"

Okay, so let's just eye all the ones we think are BAD GUYS then.

    5) What? No sense whatsoever. If this guy doesn't know what a "playmaking" receiver is, he should go pursue another career.

You haven't heard of Chris Ogbonnaya? Did you watch the last game at all? He was very solid. He's going to be a huge factor in the run game this year.

    This rant is non sense.

So....we only sign players who were cut or left their team.

Isn't that what a free agent is?

I think he wants us to trade all of our draft picks for players on other teams since rookies are unproven.

I do have to agree that everytime it looks like we get lucky, something bad happens and sets us back again. There has to be some underlying cause to the injury bug. It happens too often.
