Now that Pace has been released. Who will Rams draft ?
Most Ram fans want A. Curry. The Rams will have to draft a OT in the First Round.
Honestly i dont know who the Rams will pick at OT. Monroe or J.Smith. Cuz i want Eugene Monroe because he played vs. better talent, has more experience, and way better footwork. However the Rams want someone that is big and physical which is J. Smith. So IDK. However i would take Eugene monroe.
I'm starting to lean towards the OT.
Here is my thought. Our defense is going to be better because...
1) Long should be improved after a year under his belt.
2) AC will have a better year if we give him some help in the middle.
3) Butler, Atgowe, Bartell are all signed and ready to make an impact.
4) A defensive coach, Spags, has been hired and is bringing in his system.
But know imagine your an average fan in the stands. First game, first play from scrimmage, the rush gets by the rookie LT and knocks Bulger on his butt. Man... the whole stadium will deflate.
Defense wins championships but it's the offense that fills the seats. Yes I know there are exceptions to this but those teams have a long history of strong defense and aren't in a rebuilding stage.
IMHO
Not necessarily. Apparently Alex Barron is a possible idiot savant at LT.:o
In a word, no.
I don't think it does at all. It all depends on how comfortable we'd be with a player like Beatty at the back of the first tier of OT's, or Kropog toward the beginning of the second tier.
FO just said on radio they want to move barron to LT since its more natural for him. this probably means they can draft a guy like loadholt to move to RT and it sounds like they want to take curry.
Goodbye Aaron Curry....hello Jason Smith.
Crap, I was hoping for Curry too. *sad*
Jason Smith better be a hell of a Tackle.
Pace gave us 12 years as a top pick in the draft. So since he is gone i think we will look for another top pick that will be there for a long time.
Yea Barron might be playing LT but it is short term because we dont know if Barron will keep up his mental mistakes.
Also Curry is a SLB. Remember when we got Witherspoon to play MLB. He did a good job yet we are moving him bak to WLB cuz its his "best/natural position". So down the road what if we find out Curry's "best position" is SLB we will have to move him back to SLB so a #2 pick is a SLB not an MLB.
I don't think so. I there's just as much a chance of us taking Curry now as there was yesterday.
Having said that, I would be alright with either of the top two OT's at #2 as well, so long as the staff evaluates them to be the best player on our board.
The Giants won the Super Bowl with a 3rd rounder and a 5th rounder starting at the OT spots.
Curry is absolutely still in the mix.
Well first thing on Barron's off-season list is go back to 1st grade and learn how to count.
Bulger:"hike on 3"
Barron:"3 is that after 1?"
Bulger:"No its 2 after 1 stay focused we dont need a false start."
Barron:"What if i loose count and commit a false start?"
Bulger:"Use your fingers start at your pinkey and count to your middle finger"
Barron:"Got it!"
(2 hikes later)
Referee: "False start on the offense number 70"
Point: the guy needs to learn how to count and remember the snap count before we make him our franchise tackle. Eugene Monroe has a 4.2 GPA (he took honors courses) so he should know how to count.
Well the Giants also won the superbowl with a former #1 pick at QB. So with that logic above why dont we just take Stafford.
The Rams won a superbowl with a 1st round OT in Orlando Pace.
Listen we have a new defensive regime so i think we should solve there weakness first and trust spags to groom Culberson and a MLB in the mid round of the draft.
Honestly I wouldn't be surpised if we went Curry then WR. I think Barron will be a better LT. We could also add a good run blocking Tackle like Khaliff Barnes to compete at both spots. If Barron fails we could go after a guy like Gerald Cadogan of Penn State as a safety blanket.
LT- Barron
LG- Grecco
C- Brown
RG- Cogs
RT- Barnes
Bell versatile backup at all positions, and we restructure him next year because we are going with a bigger line. With that line up we can definately run the ball.
Rams have to go J. Smith or E. Monroe in the 1st. Barron can barely play RT. How is he going to play LT. This is Barron's last year of his contract. Do you want the Rams to pay the ton of $money Barron's going to want for a mediocrity.
B. Devaney says Bell is going to play RT at 280LBS. That is crazy. When he could hardly play LG at 280LBS.
