Pauline: In trade-out scenario, Rams could target Evans

From TFY Draft Insider contributor Tony Pauline...

    – Consensus is Mike Evans/WR/Texas A&M is a lock to be a top ten pick. Several teams feel the spread between he and Sammy Watkins of Clemson is not a great as many are making it out to be, something I completely agree with. Based on conversations its my educated “guess” the team who selects Evans will make a trade to acquire his services . Right now it looks like three teams are the frontrunners to make some sort of move for Evans. If the St Louis Rams trade out of the second spot, and they will make every effort to do as much, Evans would be a target assuming they stay in the top ten. Two teams selecting in the middle of the first frame who are very high on Evans and would consider trading up to grab him are the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens.

I wonder what the Bucs and Lions have to say about this? Surely they'd be considered frontrunners for his services too?

Dream first round: Greg Robinson and Mike Evans. Doubt it happens though.

Think it would be better to trade up from 13 for Evans.... We don't need all the picks we have... Why not move up...Go for quality...

Respectfully disagree. This is the deepest draft class in years, so players we pick up in the third and fourth and fifth rounds could well be quality NFL starters.

Please do NOT draft Evans - He cannot get by physical CBs and he does not have the speed needed in the NFL. Manziel constantly made him look better than he was by just chucking it to him and because Evans is big he was able to grab all the balls against junior high school CBs. He will be shut down in the NFL.

    That statement makes no sense.

First, if Evans was coming down with jump balls, that would be him making Manziel look better, not the other way around.

Also, your description of the CBs Evans faced is bizarre. Evans played in the SEC.

That might be our issue if Clowney is gone. Having a deep draft such as this might prove hard to get people to part with their 2nd and/or 3rd rounder. I hope we can get someone to bite though go up to get Mack/Watkins/or maybe even Robinson. Otherwise we very well could stay pat, but with one more no. 2... Lots of options :-)

They don't pass the ball in the SEC. Notice that almost all QBs in the NFL are not from the SEC. It's easy to be a QB in the SEC when all you have to do is sit behind NFL ready offensive lineman and give the ball the NFL ready running backs.

Peyton Manning: "What is he talking about?"

    Eli Manning: "Don't know."

Matthew Stafford: "Did he just say we don't pass the ball in the SEC?"

Jay Cutler: "Yep, he just said that."

    Cam Newton: "Really?"

A.J. McCarron: "So, I'm never going to be an NFL QB?"

Aaron Murray: "And I won't either?"

    Zach Mettenberger: "Man, that sucks!"

Tim Tebow: "Don't forget about me, guys!"

Peyton Manning: "Shut up, Timmy... you're not helping our cause."

I tend to agree with you. Lewan and Evans would be great gets for us. However, after seeing what took place yesterday with Aldon Smith has me a bit concerned about players like Lewan, who may pop at the wrong moment and screw-up a good career. I know each player is an individual and Jeff Fisher is pretty good about handling "difficult" players, but you just never know and we're talking a 1st round pick not some mid rounder. As much as I feel sorry about Smith's problems and hope he gets himself righted, I think Roger Goodell will take some harsh action here.

    Go Rams!

Like I said, very few SEC QBs in the NFL- Thanks for proving my point as you gave me 2 that are worth a ****.

    Peyton Manning: Superstar

    Eli Manning: Very Good

    Matthew Stafford: - He sucks

    Jay Cutler: He sucks

    Cam Newton: He sucks

A.J. McCarron: Not in the NFL

Aaron Murray: Not in the NFL

Zach Mettenberger: Not in the NFL

    Tim Tebow: He really sucks
