PFT's Mike Florio: It's down to Sanchez or Monroe

Keeping the source in mind, you should probably take this one with a grain of salt.

If the run-up to the draft weren't crazy enough, word is now emerging that the St. Louis Rams are considering two candidates with the second overall pick: tackle Eugene Monroe, and quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The shocker is Sanchez. The Rams have Marc Bulger under contract. (Then again, I've recently suggested that now might be the time to trade him.)

It could be that the Rams are merely hoping to cajole one of the teams in the teens who supposedly are interested in Sanchez (Broncos, Redskins, Jets) into believing that the only way to be sure that they'll get the former USC signal-caller is to move all the way to No. 2.

Currently, the thinking is that moving to No. 4 will be high enough to get Sanchez, if the team that wants Sanchez makes the move when the fourth pick is on the clock. If the Rams can move the target up two spots, they can trade down -- and also pick up some extra selections, in the hopes of filling more holes on a very bad roster.

Incase it wasn't posted, I've also sourced his suggestion that Bulger should be traded.

Marc Bulger, St. Louis Rams

The Rams have been terrible the past two years, and Marc Bulger has taken most of the snaps.

Though it's easy to blame the offensive line or a porous defense or bad coaching, it's a quarterback's league. And so if the quarterback's team is bad, then it's fair to conclude that the quarterback might be bad, too.

Thus, the Rams should unload him before the rest of the league figures it out.

This is ludicrous. Basically, he cites all of the problems we've encountered as a team the past two seasons, dismisses them and proceeds to lay the blame completely on Bulger. I repeat: take everything this man says with a grain of salt.

if word coming out of St Louis is saying that the Rams are after Monroe or Sanchez, its fairly safe to say that the Rams are interested in everyone else around those picks except those two players. They are trying to lure a team that is interested in these two players to move up.

Say Seattle is in love with Sanchez as their QB of the future, or Detroit does take Curry and lets Stafford fall, Seattle would want to jump to 2nd to prevent another team moving ahead of them to take the QB they want. But i dont see the Rams interest in them being real at all

The only player(s) I would be pissed if we took with the #2 are QB's. I am pretty sure BD and Spags are not going to do something like grab one of them.

I like the logic that bad team -> bad quarterback because "it's a quarterback's league" followed by the suggestion that the Rams should trade Bulger because the Rams and Mike Florio are the only ones with access to this "secret formula."

Dammit Mike, why'd you have to give everything away!? Now that everybody knows "it's a quarterback's league" we won't get anything for Bulger!

The Rams may take Monroe, or even Sanchez. I can guarantee you two things, though:

1. Jason Smith has not been eliminated from consideration (nor has Curry, in all likelihood); and

2. Florio KNOWS NOTHING. He is just talking out of his cornhole as usual.

Smith - Warm fuzzy
Monroe - Semi warm fuzzy
Curry - Oh man, grab the Rolaids. This could be good but it's upsetting now.
Sanchez - Man....how many times are we going to draft #2?
