Re: Please don't traft Tyler Eifert
Just doesnt make sense...this is like that justin Blackmon case last year he was not as good as Top5 WRs drafted in prior drafts
If your sitting at #22 and you need an offensive playmaker you go with the best offensive playmaker on your board you do not disqualify a TE because :
There is absolutely no certainty that Eifert, Ertz, or even Gavin Escobar will be available at 46...If Fish and Co. are blown away by eifert they take him at #22 because you can never accurately predict who will be there at 46 when your over 20 picks away.
Also look at the value of a guy like Gronk if you were to do that draft over again he is top 15 pick
You just can draft on hope of a player being there on your next pick

Re: Please don't traft Tyler Eifert
Lets not compare TE's to WR in terms of first round picks because Wide Receivers are selected frequently in the first round and these picks are usually the best players in the league at their position and have the ability to completely change offenses. This is the exact opposite of what happens at the Tight End position so what I am saying actually makes complete sense.
Everyone keeps saying that TE's are necessary to succeed in the league today but the league is not following this trend by snatching up TE's in the first round. Good GM's are avoiding reaches and getting players with the same potential in later rounds while drafting guys at the impact positions(QB, DE, Corner, WR) and sure thing players like Chance Warmack who you will only find in the first.
I am looking at past history and trends in the league and although Eifert and Ertz may not make it all the way to pick 46, that does not mean they are worth the value of the 22nd pick because there is a pretty big difference between a first and second round player. Many mocks have both of these guys lasting until the mid second round but the point of this thread isn't to not pick them because both of these specific guys will be available at 46. The point I am making is that the production of first round tight ends has shown that unless they look to be a top prospect, then they are not worthy of the pick. If Fischer thinks Eifert or Ertz are good enough to be the next Gronk or Witten then I can agree with the pick but they do not appear to have that potential from what I have seen.
