Is this a possibility concerning Barron and Bell?
I read an article this morning which stated Detroit is unlikely to draft a QB with their 1st pick.
John Czarnecki
"Today, there is no way the Lions will use that choice on either Georgia's Mike Stafford or USC's Mark Sanchez, the top-rated quarterbacks in the draft. Now, they might consider using it on Cassel, but they won't do that, either, even though he is preferred over the unknown rookies. Instead, the Lions will probably choose between two offensive tackles, Baylor's Jason Smith or Virginia's Eugene Monroe. It's the Jake Long syndrome all over again. Alabama's Andre Smith is out of the mix because his college coaches have been faint with their praise of their road-grader tackle who left here because he didn't feel like he was in the proper shape to compete."
Detroit has lots of cap room and could be heavy bidders for Cassel. If the Lions select Eugene Munroe with their 1st pick, where will that leave us? Especially if (as I believe) the Rams like Munroe.
Lately we have been hearing hints from the PD that Pace will no longer be a Ram when the 2009 season starts. If this is true, then we'll need to replace him .. Is there a possibility that Barron will be moved to LT and Bell to RT? If this scenario were to transpire, who would we pick assuming Munroe goes #1 overall? Jason Smith? Aaron Curry? Would we still select an OT with our second overall pick? Thoughts ..
Re: Is this a possibility concerning Barron and Bell?
I guess Maui this is why I hate the draft....until it's over. There are so many scenarios for the Rams to chose in this years draft that they could pick from 5 positions and make a good choice.
I still think they go OT in Round 1 but if they would go WR or LB it wouldn't be a bad thing.
I honestly think that for the Rams, Rounds 2,3 and 4 are much more intriguing than Round 1. They have to have a great draft. They have to connect on at least two of those rounds outside of the first.
Re: Is this a possibility concerning Barron and Bell?
If they do take Monroe, then that leaves us with Curry or Smith and thats not a bad thing. Also, I would prefer the Rams to draft Curry.

If that transpires, there is a 53.27% chance we take Jason Smith, a 40.98% chance it's Aaron Curry, a 5.74% chance of Crabtree, and a 0.01% it's Avenger.
Re: Is this a possibility concerning Barron and Bell?
I would still go OT, Barron locked in as LT for the season is scary.
Re: Is this a possibility concerning Barron and Bell?
IMO, if the Dolphins picked Smith, I would want to get Curry. If they take Monroe, I would rather get Smith.
Or maybe they will surprise us all and draft Pat White so they can run the wildcat even more.

There goes a monitor.
:)
Re: Is this a possibility concerning Barron and Bell?
You're forgetting something! Whole year, Detroit didn't draft WR in the first round! Whole, entire, never-ending year! This means, they'll grab, slobbering all over, Michael Crabtree (at least to put me down).

Is Avenger big enough to play O-Line?!
Re: Is this a possibility concerning Barron and Bell?
I think we take one of the two. Monroe or J. Smith. Whichever one isn't selected by the Lions. If neither are taken, it'll be Monroe.
As I see it, its the same thing as last year. It came down to the Long boys. Whichever Miami didn't take, we will. This year, it comes down to the OT's.

Is he big enough?!?!? I ate dinner with him at '08 Bash. He put down 3 steaks, 4 chicken breasts, a dozen dinner rolls, 2 more steaks, and a baked potato. Then turned to me and asked if I was going to finish my burger.
Yea, he's got the size to play OT.

I think Avenger could be the dark horse in this year's draft. His potential is through the roof, but he's a project for sure.

Go :helmet:'s
With the Possible loss of OT, O. Pace and WR, T. Holt. The Rams need to draft the top OT in the draft. Rams move RT Barron to LT and J. Smith starts at RT. The Rams can draft WR B. Robiskie or K. Britt in the 2nd. I think Robiskie is NFL ready because his father being a NFL WR coach. Did anyone see his Talent at the combine. Great stuff, big and fast. Then go defence the rest of the draft DT, MLB,DE,SS & CB if rams lose Bartell.
There is no way Bell can play RT, He could barely play GUARD at his playing weight of 280 last year. I felt Greco played better than him at LG.
