Broyles, 5'9" 192 had 21 reps on the bench press, compared to Blackmon, 6'1" 207 who had only 14 reps

That's misleading, as Broyles has the advantage of having short arms (30 1/4") compared to Blackmon (32 1/2").

As for the 17 reps threshhold, here are some WRs who were below that mark: Michael Floyd (16), Stephen Hill (14), Kendall Wright (11) and Reuben Randle (15).

If you want to draw a comparison, Dez Bryant ran a 4.52 at his Pro Day at Oklahoma State.

Yeah, I think 17reps is for guys that don't run fast...not the medium --- I should have stated that...

Obviously, Blackmon has long arms...but the NFL will get him stronger....he looks more "cut" than he really is....

I think Blackmon has handled his off-season perfectly so far and will run a decent time....

He would be a good addition for the Rams and the only top WR I want to avoid in the first 2 rounds is Kendall Wright.....

I think Blackmon will be drafted higher than he should due to lack of elite WR in this draft...but he has the tools to be successful....

Every WR in this years draft has shortcoming....Blackmon feels safe....(less shortcoming) --> hopefully if we take Blackmon we can take a chance later in the draft on Streeter/Broyles/Quick/Hill (if falls)/Givens etc....

Our second WR drafted in this draft could can a big impact...and I see Austin Pettis on the Bubble really quick

I don't see why people are so excited about his 40 at his pro day. The pro day is there to help their own players... I wouldn't see surprised to see Blackmon run a 4.4 flat.

I'm not sure either, Sosa. Personally, I hope he runs around a 6.2. That way we can use our 1st on somebody else, and get him in a later round.

I can think of maybe half a dozen aspects more important to a WR success than their 40 time.

Donnie Avery ran a blazing 40, and Larry Fitzgerald didn't.

I don't buy that. If that were true, Dez Bryant would be a 4.60-4.62 guy, and yet, he scored 17 TDs in his first two NFL seasons (including two long kickoff returns).

I think some of these "experts" just pull this stuff out of their posteriors.

Everyone saying 4.39-4.46 --- even if you add the "fast track" this makes Blackmon fast enough to be a legit WR talent at pick #6....

This pushes his stock clearly so you can not pass on him at pick #4 or #6 for anyone except Kahlil

IKR. Kinda scared someone might swoop in and grab him. I really hope we trade with the Browns, I dont think someone would move up to #3 to grab him.

klahoma State WR Justin Blackmon reportedly ran his first unofficial forty in the 4.45-4.50 range at the team's Friday Pro Day. His second forty was in the neighborhood of 4.41 to 4.46. This is undoubtedly a quick time for Blackmon, who declined to run at the Combine after a hamstring tweak. Blackmon rarely was able to show off this kind of straight line speed in college while consistently facing off coverage that allowed quick completions. Keep in mind certain teams could add as much as .1 of a second onto this forty because of the notorious fast track at Stillwater. Without a clear top receiver in this class, Blackmon certainly has the production to warrant being the first one selected.

People that don't like Blackmon will see the numbers as marginal.
