Prisco Highlights The Absurdity of Draft Grades
If there was ever any doubt as to the absurdity of draft grades, I ask you to consider this:
Quote:
St. Louis Rams
Best pick: Defensive end Chris Long, the second player taken in the draft, will be a star. He was my top-rated player in the draft.
Questionable move: Passing on Dorsey to take Long. Their careers are now tied together for as long as they play.
Second-day gem: Cornerback Justin King is an athletic corner who didn't always play up to his ability. Maybe defensive coordinator Jim Haslett can get it out of him.
Overall grade: B. I love Long and second-round receiver Donnie Avery is a perfect slot receiver for their offense.
So... Chris Long is the TOP RATED PLAYER, but its questionable to pass on him for someone who, according to Prisco, was NOT THE TOP RATED PLAYER!
Exsqueeze me?

Duh, if Prisco were in control, he would've traded the rest of our draft for the Falcons' #3 overall pick and taken both of them. A+!
Re: Prisco Highlights The Absurdity of Draft Grades
So their best pick is Long, but they made a questionable move in passing on a guy to take their best pick.... head exploding..... *poof*

Damned if you do, damned if you don't applies here I guess.........
Re: Prisco Highlights The Absurdity of Draft Grades
I think he's trying to say that, although he had Long as his top rated player and thinks it was a great pick, others who had Dorsey as the highest rated player, will undoubtedly question taking Chris over Glenn.
Re: Prisco Highlights The Absurdity of Draft Grades
Yeah, but it's his grade, and shouldn't take into account what anyone else thinks. It's him trying to have his cake and eat it too. "Oh, yeah, Long was my top rated player... but Dorsey's even better!"
Screw all draft grades until two or three years later.
