3 players out of 42 drafted from 2000-2004 are on the team right now. 3. That's it. 8 out of 21 from 2005 and 2006 draft. 5 are already gone from the 2007-2008 draft. That's why I could care less about the draft. There will be many posts about how great our 5th round pick will be this year but odds aren't in that players favor to stick around very long.

Re: Proof why I don't get excited about the draft
I like the 2008 draft and 2005 was pretty good even though we traded away hedge later on. This old regime was awful, did not have any plans on their team, and wasted every first round pick they had. Its embarrassing that they had so many opportunities to destroy our team. Anyone can see why an NFL team is built through the draft and why we are so weak in depth everywhere.

Re: Proof why I don't get excited about the draft
Ok, that's probably why we suck.
Most teams will not have that low of a number. I do like how many defensive starters we have drafted though.
long
carriker
ryan(at the moment)
little
bartell
hill
atogwe
tinoisamoa
If we draft a starting MLB, that will be 9.
if we draft a LT, it will be 7
avery
burton
barron
LT
bulger
jackson
cogs
potentially 16 of 22 starters drafted.

I understand it's a new regime but until I see it, I won't blindly believe it.

Re: Proof why I don't get excited about the draft
I understand all that. I do. I understand it's a new regime. I really, really, really, really do. However, I would like to know how the other NFL team drafts have fared since then. I bet there are more teams like the Rams than there are teams like the Patriots.

Re: Proof why I don't get excited about the draft
I have a harder time believing somebody named "Kinky" ran for Texas governor than I do that The Rams will get better.

Re: Proof why I don't get excited about the draft
Actually Kinky did run for Governor. He's a legend here in Austin. Brilliant man, just a good ole Texas boy. Kinky's smart. He's HQ was at Ben White and I-35 and he did run for Gov. Got some votes too.

Re: Proof why I don't get excited about the draft
Wait a minute. Tx doesn't like the draft? I've never heard that before......ever.
As you said, the Rams have 3 from 2000-2004. The Pats have 8. The Rams have 8 from 2005-2006. The Pats have 9.
The Rams have lost 5 from 2007-2009. The Pats have lost 9.
So by the above standards, the Rams actually appear to doing a little better than the Pats of late."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
