    Rambos defensive mock draft

So you want defense I will give you defense.

Rams sign Byrd to start at safety this is our one and only big FA acquisition. The Rams add a pro bowler to the back-end and much needed experience to the team.

    Draft

With the second pick the Rams select Clowney DE. He will rotate to keep Long and Quinn fresh and make every down extremely hard on any offensive line we are facing. Also there will be passing downs when all three will be on the field at the same time. This will keep offensive coordinators up at night for sure.

Second move but a critical one, the Rams trade up using the 13th pick and their second round and pick along with a future pick with Atlanta.

Rams take Barr OLB out of UCLA. Here is another player that will keep OC up at night. He will help to control the likes of Wilson and Kap from escaping for those 20 yard runs and will be more pass rush then one team should be allowed to have.

With the addition of Byrd, Clowney and Barr this team is not only stacked on the defense it’s set for the long term. This is what Fisher came to do, build a great defense run the ball and play a very conservative offense. With already very good special teams, coverage, kicking game, coupled with one of the best punt re-turners in the game in Austin. We already have two of the best young kickers, GZ and the pro bowler. That should put the Rams into the playoffs.

With a strong run game with Stacy. Bradford will only need to protect the ball and be highly efficient, like he was in his last three games he played.

The only way you get Byrd is if you lose several of the O linemen - we are too tight against the cap to pay a safety $8 million, which is his asking price.

Without those o linemen, without any of our first 3 picks going to the line, we can't run, and the odds of our QB getting mangled go up.

That would be one hell of a D, but the cap precludes it, and we have too many other needs.

Getting Clowney and Barr I think we really could come close to the single season sack record. Would be craziness!!!

The only way you get Byrd is if you lose several of the O linemen... we are talking about Wells and Dahl. Both are old and often injured. Barnes filled in for Wells not a big drop off there, Jones and Shelly at guard. Long and Joe Barksdale at the OT. Not a huge change from what we had the second half of the year. Also Chris Williams would not cost too much he could be resigned. Cort will take a pay cut and free up even more cap. We could still draft O linemen with in the third and fourth rounds if need be.

Paul Boudreau has already proven in the last two years he is a hell of a coach. Most Ram fans did not even know who Joe Barksdale was until he started this year. Think back to 2012 Paul Boudreau took two OTs off the scrap heap and we ran the ball and they played pretty good. Is this the long term answer for the O line no but could we get by one year sure. The defense would be set. Then we could focus on the O line until it's done.

Also we are running a lot of two TE sets, that's another reason why we are running the ball so well, sometimes three TE sets. Another player most Ram fan did not know existed Cory Harkey, he is a huge part of the running game when lined up as a FB.

As far as Sam goes we will run a very conservative offense run the ball and go play action. Don't think we will be seeing the spread at Rams part next year either way we go in the draft. Coming off the injury I'm sure the will want him to get the ball out quick and run max pro a lot. I don't see empty sets early next year.

Would take alot of pressure off the O. We would only have to score about 10 points...

Would be crazy if that scenario played out. Imagine the speed at the front 7.
