Rams #14 from Top in terms of cap space -- as of today 3/17/14

    14. St. Louis Rams
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $13 million (figure doesn’t include the re-signing of Roger Saffold)

One of the quietest teams of the past week, we may not have heard from St. Louis at all if not for Mark Davis. It was only after the Raiders owner pulled the plug on the agreed-to Saffold deal (citing a failed physical) that the Rams swooped in and resigned the versatile lineman to a 5-year, $31.7 million deal. Saffold’s contract specifics with the Rams are not yet available—the Rams have approximately $13 million in available cap space before accounting for his 2014 cap hit. As expected, Sam Bradford’s $17.6 million cap figure for the 2014 league year has greatly affected St. Louis’ ability to bring in free agents.

And we'll see about the Finnegan impact. That sounds like its a great deal for us. And does that include the money for Dunbar?

I wouldn't think so, as it appears to be an approximation from prior to Saffold's signing, which was before Dunbar's signing.

Resigned Rams Rodger Saffold and Jo-Lonn Dunbar, count just under $4.9 million against the cap in 2014.

Thats a deal Saffold cap number jumps to 8 million next year.

With Saffolds number so low this season, wouldn't this suggest the Rams are looking to use some of the cap space on players still?

JT said we have about 12-13 million left. We need 5-6 for rookies and it looks like we will sign or need to sign a back up QB. Maybe we sign a QB and one other player. We might take a flyer on a one year deal with someone.

There's still plenty of guys out there, that we'll sign in the coming weeks or after the draft, when guys really will be signing for cheap. All looking at 1 or 2 year deals, probably no more than 2M/year excepting the backup QB.
    I believe!

I'm curious where the ***** are because if they trade for DeSean Jackson, that's $10 million of cap room they'll need to find. Hopefully they don't have it and won't be able to make the trade because that could cause us some serious problems.

    Go Rams!
