Rams to bring in Joe Flacco for private workout ..
From TFY Draft:
Smiokescreen or real interest .. I wonder ..After a tremendous Senior Bowl and combine workout, quarterback Joe Flacco followed it up with a solid pro-day workout last week. Flacco threw almost 150 passes, many to receiver Shaheer McBride who was imported from Delaware State for the workout, and looked sensational.
The Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams will be bringing in Flacco for private workouts while the New York Jets will be working him out tomorrow. Flacco has also drawn a lot of interest from the Baltimore Ravens ..Last edited by Nick; -03-13-2008 at 04:38 PM. Reason: No links!

If I were on the Rams scout team, I'd bring someone in at every position. To miss the playoffs as often as we have lately, I would think outside of SJ, Holt and Spoon that everyone's position is up for grabs.

I do agree with that. I just think it would be a waste of a pick going after a QB, at least for this year. We have Bulger and now we have a solid backup in Green.
There are a lot more positions that need addressing. The QB position isn't a worry for me at all. We can't afford to waste picks on positions we are already very strong in. Like we did with Brian Leonard last year IMO.

Re: Rams to bring in Joe Flacco for private workout ..
True enough, but with the way that he's been burning up the competition in the postseason, it's just good scouting to look at him for the second round. Even moreso, if you've had him in for a workout, then there's the possibility that you'll take him and you can ransom the pick, a la with Cutler and Denver.
Of course we could also be seriously looking at him as a pick that will sit for three years, and then take over for Bulger. Though it wouldn't help us now, I wouldn't cry over it if we picked up Flacco in the second, especially if we trade down in the first. Look at what Green Bay did with Aaron Rodgers; why couldn't we do the same?

I guess there's little chance of him slipping into the 3rd round?

I would love the rams to grab him at #33 . this kid is the real deal , next years class is a total pile and if we wait 2 years for a new QB to start training , it might be too late . i would like this pick very much . i had him targeted in the 3rd a long ways back but he just keeps moving up .

Ya know , a few 1-2 extra picks would just be so much fun wouldn't it . i would love for the rams to grab another 2nd - 3rd or 4th pick .

I'd have no problem taking Flacco at #34.

I really would not want us to select him with our 2nd round pick. I think WR, DE or OT is far more important, depending on who we take in the 1st.
If there is a good QB prospect available in the 3rd or 4th rounds, then maybe.

True enough Possum, but the question is, is he our guy? I think we're doing our due diligence to check him out, but I can't see using a high draft pick on a guy who should be a practice squad player. Unfortunately he'd have to be on the active roster, as someone would certainly grab him if he was waived to the squad.
I wouldn't disagree with the pick, as he can be groomed for a number of years before taking over, but if we were seriously considering this, I think we'd have paid less for or not gotten Green in the first place.
