    Rams Draft 4/10/07 [Very Aggresive]

Rams trade 2[52], 1[08] and CB Jemetrius Butler to New England for 1[24].

    1[13] DE Jamaal Anderson [Arkansas]

Anderson has great size [6'6" 270lbs.] and athletic ability. He is the best value on the draft board and will help immediatly in the pass defense while working into a starters role in the future.

    1[24] DT Justin Harrell [Tennessee]

Harrell has the size [6'4" 315lbs.] that the Rams are starving for in the middle of the defense. Harrell is coming off a season ending bicep injury, but 31 reps at 225 silenced that injury. Harrell might not be a dynamic pass rusher but he the two gap tackle that the Rams lack.

3[82] S Josh Gattis [Wake Forest]

A big FS prospect with great speed and athletic ability that should have an immediate impact on passing downs.

4[117] OG Mansfield Wrotto [Georgia Tech]

A very raw OT/OG project that played mostly at DT during his college career similar to the Chargers Chris Dielman. Wrotto has top notch athletic ability and size at 6'3" 320lbs. and can provide depth while honing his craft.

    5. LB Prescott Burgess [Michigan]

Burgess has the size [6'3" 245lbs] to plat on SLB and was a safety at the beginning of his college career so you know he has the cover ability.

    6. RB/KR Alonzo Coleman [Hampton]

Coleman is a quicker RB that has returned kicks. He will add depth and shiftyness behind Steven Jackson and should compete in the kick return game.

    7. DT Keith Jackson [Arkansas]

Not the biggest DT in the draft at 6' 310lbs but he has great ability against the run and is worth a developmental pick.

    7. WR Syndric Steptoe [Arizona]

    A small slashing WR/KR.

    7. OT Chase Johnson [Wyoming]

Johnson has great size [6'8" 326lbs.] but not great strength as he only benched 13 reps at his pro day. His size is worth a developmental pick and a PR spot.

Country, how do we trade a second and a first and move up to the 8th spot and then have the 24th?

Something is a miss here. We have to many first round picks.

I think he meant that he was trading this years second and next years #1.

that does make more sense, if thats the case i'm not a huge fan, however if Harrell is going to be "that" guy who can anchor our DL then maybe its a deal.

I just dont see how that can be a sure thing, so i doubt i make that deal.

There are no guarantees or sure things in football players. But, year in and year out you can be sure that someone that most have never heard of will become a star. I guarantee it.

so the Rams trade their second round pick from this year, 1st for next year, and Butler to grab the 8th worst 1st round choice. That seems like a very one-sided trade and i don't think Justin Harrell is really THAT good but you obviously love him.

I like the late-round choices though.

It's basically giving up a second to use next year's pick this year. I can't say I'm overly thrilled about that idea.

I have John McCargo flashbacks from last year...

McCargo played in 5 games, had one Pass Defensed and 5 tackles.

Five games isn't really a great basis for judgement, but you'd think, for a guy the Bills traded up into the first for, he would have started more games.

Anyone know what the Bills traded to land themselves back in round one (I think pick 25 or 26?)

i wouldnt give up a #2 this year and a #1 next year for harrell, even if i could be sure that he would be on the board at 24. Thats a lot to give up especially considering that i am notoriously suspect of ANY defensive tackle contributing in a material way in year one.

no thanks , i'm for trading down , even multiple times to stockpile picks , for the end of the round , and 2nd and 3rd rounders, but not to give away picks.
