Rams focus in on Sammy Watkins?

Rams seem mission focused to take Sammy Watkins at 2nd pick. We could use a great wide receiver and this guy looks hot. Over the past couple days the Rams have been flooding Facebook with information about this Sammy. He even drew a picture of himself in a St. Louis Rams uniform so he is at least interested in coming here. This was posted just today on the official St. Louis Rams site.

I wouldn't be upset if we took him. Might actually be happy about it. Not our biggest need, but should end up being a really good WR.

That being said, I don't trust anything coming out of the front office at this time of year. Smokescreen...

Even if we don't take Sammy Watkins and take a Lineman with the 2nd round pick. You can't go wrong with the Evans or Lee either. While my mouth is salivating with the thoughts of Watkins. I've watched Lee, because I'm a USC guy and trust Lee is a beast.

There is zero correlation between information the rams put on facebook about any player and the liklihood of the Rams selecting him in the draft.

Furthermore, there may even be less of a correlation than you think. (see: smokescreen)

Re: Rams focus in on Sammy Watkins

I really don't take the Rams website too seriously. After all, Gregg Williams is still not even listed on the site in the coaches section. Guess the Rams, who are worth hundreds of millions, don't really care about social media?

I love Watkins, but I'm not sure how I feel about drafting a wide out that early. This isn't a spread offense. We did just fine with the same receivers and a backup QB last year when we ran the ball well. That leaves me with the impression that we should solidify the OL, first and foremost. We also need RB depth, but that can be dealt with much later in the draft.

Then again, it would give Bradford his first true #1 wide out. Watkins has all the tools to become an elite receiver. If we can add Watkins and still solidify the OL and secondary, that'd be choice. Easier said than done, though. However, if we could trade back a few spots, draft Watkins, and add another high pick this year, it could be a real possibility.

The Rams can take any player they want, spare 1. Since we don't know who's going number 1 it's really hard to speculate. All I know is they have to take the best player available. If Clowney is available, unless they're going to trade out of that position. They have to take Clowney.

I'd love to see him in Horns. But Shotty will have to convince us he's capable of using him effectively. He couldn't use Austin well, it took him several weeks to figure it out. Now we'd over load his poor little mind with two dynamic play making WR's.

I would be disappointed to see the Rams take Watkins at #2. They need young, healthy, talented O linemen. I also don't want them to stay at #2 and take Clowney. I have a bad feeling about that dude. I'd rather they trade down and still get a top O lineman, then go after DB's and safeties. Too early to take a WR at #2.

Build a strong foundation on both sides of the ball, then go get the wow guys.

The highlight film is very nice. So are the highlight films of tons of other guys over the years. he played his entire career in the acc, a second or third tier conference. He gained countless yards on wide receiver screens, plays that are very difficult at the next level. I am not saying that the guy isnt very talented, but there is a big jump between his highlights and a #1 receiver in the nfl.

This has nothing to do with anything... And for the record, Sammy Watkins did NOT "draw" that picture of himself. Someone on twitter made it and he put it on his instagram, as well as a picture of him in a Bucs uniform..

Ok, true enough, he may not have drawn the picture, but the video alludes that he did. Thanks for the correction.

While driving home from work yesterday listening to NFL Talk radio, Pat Kirwin is convinced we are going to trade down from the 2nd pick.
