Rams get five of Gosselin's Top 100

The Rams drafted five players ranked in Rick Gosselin's Top 100 prospects...

Chris Long: 3rd overall
Donnie Avery: 43rd overall
Justin King: 52nd overall
John Greco: 87th overall
Keenan Burton: 92nd overall

I know some put faith in Gosselin's opinion - his mocks are historically among the most accurate - so I thought it was interesting to note that we came out of this draft with five guys from his top 100. Two of them - King and Burton - were picked outside of the first 100 picks.

I still really think Burton will make an impact THIS YEAR.

Re: Rams get five of Gosselin's Top 100

Speaking of draftniks top 100, Mayock had 90 of his top 100 go in the first 100 picks. Let me just say..........DAAAAAAAANG. That's pretty good.

As for our draft, I like the Avery pick. I think he's just what the Dr. ordered for this offense. However, I will admit my first reaction to the pick was, "Great, but he would have been there in the 3rd" and "Why not Thomas/Sweed/Jackson?"

But I humbly defer.

Might he have been gone at #65? Quite possible.
Is he better for this offense than Thomas/Sweed/Jackson? Apparently, according to the actual experts.

Who am I to argue?

I'm saying we won't know for a couple of years. If Long and Avery are the next Youngblood and Holt, then I'd say we did just fine. Or if Long and Avery are the next Bill Hawkins and Aaron Cox, then yea, they were reaches.

However, NOBODY will know until at least a couple of years.
