Rams Interested in RG Geoff Schwartz

A lot of people have been talking about Jon Asamoah as a Saffold replacement, but that's because I though the Chiefs would be smart enough to retain Schwartz who was superb last year.

"The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams are showing interest in free agent G/T Geoff Schwartz.A mauler in the run game, Schwartz stands 6-foot-6, 340 and can play both guard and right tackle, though his best position is inside. The Rams appear to have given up on re-signing Rodger Saffold. Schwartz looks like their "Plan B.""

    - Rotoworld

Schwartz is similar to Rodger. Schwartz is a powerful run blocker, good pass protector, is good at pulling, and hasn't had many injuries. He was rated a top 10 OG last year by both BleacherReport (Joke) and PFF. Schwartz would be an amazing add at RG where I feel he'd excel in a run blocking scheme.

Who knows in this market. I've seen 4 years 16 mill as an example which I think would be an excellent deal for both sides.

Yep $4 million avg would seem to be right, with a low first year hit.

this is what evan silva projects

    23. Guard Geoff Schwartz -- Can play three positions on the line (RG, LG, RT). Best suited for right guard. Mauling power blocker, alley clearer. 6-foot-6, 340. Turning 28. Rams have so far been only team with reported interest in Schwartz. St. Louis is extremely needy up front.

Free Agent Forecast: Rams on six-year, $24 million deal.

Mentioned him in my post about how to fix the OLine. He'd be a great signing and likely a great value. Make it happen Snead!

This would be a sweet deal. 6 years seems a little long though.

I like Schwartz a lot. If its a six year deal though, let that last year be for about 8 to 10 million, so if he's not getting it done he can be cast off and it makes those other years manageable, really would be a realistic 5 yr deal. Work the guaranteed money angle.

Ditto! Perhaps a good candidate to replace Dahl / Saffold, yes? Let's see if the Rams offer an invite.

This would be a good pickup. His 2011 hip injury held him back until this year, but he was strong in the 2nd half of the season. In fact, he replaced Asamoah on the field. This would upgrade the line.

Re: Rams Interested in RG Geoff Schwartz

Schwartz and Robinson on the right side could really be a dominating dual.

Schwartz best suited for right guard. Mauling power blocker, alley clearer. 6-foot-6, 340.

Robinson measured 6-foot-5. He weighed 332 at the combine down about five pounds.

    Not so fast.

    Geoff Schwartz - G - Chiefs

The Newark Star-Ledger reports the Giants are one of three teams interested in free agent G/T Geoff Schwartz.
The Rams are believed to also be in the mix. Schwartz isn't going to be back in Kansas City and is easily the top free-agent guard available. The Giants love versatility in their lineman. Schwartz can play both guard spots and right tackle.
