Rams "interested" in Sidney Rice ..

From The Redzone
Pro Football Weekly reports that their sources indicated the St. Louis Rams "have some interest" in Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice should he become available as a free agent. The team is understandably leery about the hip injury that caused Rice to miss most of the 2010 season. Rice did look healthy by the end of last season and showed the league in 2009 that he is capable of being that dominate No.1 receiver that every team craves and few teams actually have. Rice caught 83 passes for 1,312 yards that season and was clearly Brett Favre's go-to receiver. Rice was voted to the Pro Bowl that year.
Rookie Sam Bradford had a breakout first year in 2010 working with a group of receivers that were mediocre at best but things may be looking up. The Rams are expected to re-sign WR Mark Clayton, who had a great stat last year and showed exceptional chemistry with Bradford until Clayton went down with a season-ending injury. Former Mizzou receiver Danario Alexander has speed and size and led the nation in receptions as a college senior. Alexander showed flashes of brilliance last year but has a history of multiple knee injuries which may limit his potential. Danny Amendola is a possession receiver that could be compared to a poor man's Wes Welker.
The Rams have shown a willingness to spend bucks in free agency the past few years and wide receiver is certainly one of their main focuses. New offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has shown a tremendous talent for rescuing wide receivers from the trash heap (Exhibit A-Brandon Lloyd) but look for the Rams to eithe sign a high profile free agent and/or use their first round pick on a WR if Julio Jones or A.J. Green miraculously falls to them.

Reporting that the Rams "have some interest" in Sidney Rice and that the Rams will draft Green or Jones if one falss to them says it all about the need to write stories at a time when there is effectively nothing to write about other than the lockout and the draft (as players magically move "up and down" a few spots on a daily or weekly basis). I expect the next article from the author to explain that the earth is round and that the sky is blue.

Can't wait for that one, been wondering about it along with whether the Rams are interested in a better pass rush, run defense and improvement in they're WR corps.
