    Rams interested in Smith

KFNS 590 in St. Louis reports "there had been speculation" that the Rams would be interested in free agent DE Justin Smith before reports out of Cincinnati surfaced that he's likely to be franchise tagged.
It's hardly a lock that Smith will be franchised after Cincy signed Robert Geathers for $33.7 million in January. Smith is a Mizzou alum and the Rams need help at end and have the cap space, so he'd make a fair fit

Smith would be a good complement to LL and could definitely help him avoid double teams. Playing with the Bengals as book-ends (with
Robert Geathers, who had 10.5 sacks) he was able to register 7.5 sacks hisself. Over the past 3 yrs, he has averaged almost 8 sacks a year. I would be very happy with this signing.

Smith is also solid verse the run. He could put up comparable numbers to Wistrom. Which would be a tremendous improvement over what we got from that position last year.

That's a solid comparison. In fact, the way I describe Justin Smith is a "rich man's Wistrom". He's the same type player, but a little better than Wistrom on both the run AND the pass.
