Rams looking at similar back to Pead and D Rich

I get why the Rams would bring in Eddie Lacy and Marcus Lattimore.

But what does it say about Pead and Daryl Richardson when the Rams are bringing in similar backs?

Mike Gillislee - RB - Florida: At 5'11, 208 pounds

Spencer Ware - RB - LSU At 5-11, 223 pounds

Jonathan Franklin - RB - UCLA At 5-10 205 pounds

These guys look like they would come off the board in rounds 3-5. I have not spent a lot of time looking at backs, but what I have read about these guys they are good in the blitz pick and blocking.

Spencer has some size but still not the bigger back you would think we would need considering Ganaway's lack of playing time.

    Two possibilities:

    1. Perhaps the Rams simply want to have a true RB committee system and, therefore, want the parts to be somewhat interchangeable; or

    2. Perhaps there are subtle differences that are valued by the Rams. I will say that Gillislee, for example, though not a big back, is more of a "downhill," between-the-tackles, runner than our current RBs.

All that said, I will be interested to see if names like Le'Veon Bell and Montee Ball are added to the Rams Park visitor list.

Rams could also be doing some scouting on players they will have to potentially face down the road. Not out of the realm of possibility.

You bring in good players and competition....Look how Pete Carroll has built a team full of athletes in Seattle....With drafting Russell Wilson even though they had Matt Flynn, they found a star, and a starter....

maybe that means Fisher is sold on Pead and/or Rich.....Either way I trust the Stache and his people in the organization.

Year after year I seemed to hate all the picks in the Rams draft and only like maybe 1 or 2 each year....

Now, it is the opposite, Fisher's draft is solid, and you can only nit pick over 1 or 2 picks that you may have done differently, but I know any the end of this process we will be a much better team.

Read somewhere that Fisher drafts backs till he has the one that sticks. Although that's usually in later rounds. Nobody ever got worse from competition.

Leveon Bell stepping right in where Jackson left off would be fine with me.

Re: Rams looking at similar back to Pead and D Rich

If we did not spent a second on Pead last year I would be all for a RB. Heck in the first round if need be. The fact that we took Pead and he has yet to play a significant amount of time, we need to see if he can play before we draft another back IMO. If we do it after the fourth round, I can live with that.

A second round pick! I thought the days of flushing picks where over?
