Report: Rams to select Chris Long with No. 2 pick

NFL Network

NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that the St. Louis Rams will select Virginia defensive end Chris Long with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft. Long is expected to help a defensive unit that gave up more points per game last season than any other team except the Detroit Lions.
Projected by many as the top pick, Chris Long found out this week that he wouldn't be the first player to stride to the podium to smile and hold up his new jersey. That honor will belong to Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long, who has already signed with the Miami Dolphins.
"You know you're going to have to show up at training camp in about two weeks, maybe even less," Long told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I'm just looking forward to getting picked up. It doesn't matter who to me. I'm anxious to be on a team and part of an organization and start working towards something."
The Associated Press contributed to this report

Adam Scheftler reports it, then its 99% gauranteed.

But Hadley said it was 100% guaranteed Dorsey! Don't you get the feeling none of these guys really know what they're talking about?

Re: Rams picking Chris long

I'm definitely excited about the prospect of Chris Long sporting the Rams colors. But I'm still definitely not convinced about the whole 99% thing. With the potential trade downs and such I would have worded it as follows:

IF the Rams keep their pick at #2 THEN it could possibly be a 99% guarantee they pick Chris Long, of course barring any sign and trade deals that may or may not include Glenn Dorsey or Matt Ryan which may subsequently reduce the 99% probability guarantee.

So take THAT Adam Schefter!!!

What fun we can have leading up to the draft KNOWING who will be there. Thanks Miami!!!
