Rams Showing Strong Interest in Brandstater (per Scout.com)

Interestingly, I found this after I posted my final mock, which includes Brandstater (Round 5).

Rams Showing Strong Interest In Brandstater
    Ed Thompson, Scout.com
The St. Louis Rams are showing strong interest in Tom Brandstater, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound quarterback out of Fresno State.
The Rams, according to a source, had scheduled a private workout/meeting on March 10 for the strong-armed thrower. He's also scheduled for an official visit with the team on April 15-16.
Just prior to the NFL Scouting Combine, Brandstater tore a lat muscle under his right arm, but still managed to make a strong showing in passing drills and in workouts despite the injury. He opted not to participate in the school's Pro Day on March 11 to allow the muscle to heal, and will hold a personal Pro Day on April 11.
During the 2008 season, Brandstater completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 2,664 yards and 18 touchdowns. He's been receiving high ratings for his combination of size and mobility, his arm strength, football intelligence and leadership skills. He finished third among all quarterbacks at the Combine in the three-cone drill and fifth in the 20-yard shuttle.

    Hey Av

I live about 2 hours from Fresno, I sure hope Rams take Him. He'll beat Bulger out of starting QB in year three. He's good.
Let him grow as a QB and learn the NFL and he'll be a great QB.

    FYI...

    Overview
Brandstater is the latest Fresno State quarterback on the NFL's radar, although the three-year starter's raw skills still need a bit of polishing. His size, arm strength and surprising mobility make him an intriguing prospect, however - especially in a weak class of signal-callers. His statistics declined in 2008, completing only 59.6 percent of his passes after achieving a 65.6 percent rate in 2007 while his interceptions grew from five to 12. But his potential and tools will undoubtedly remind scouts of a mid-round mixture of 2007 draftees Joe Flacco and Kevin O'Connell.

    Positives
Very good height and adequate build for the position. Despite his size, his feet are good enough to be effective on the bootleg and moving within the pocket. Good arm strength for short and intermediate routes, and is improving his accuracy on those throws. Has an efficient delivery. Shows some touch on shorter routes, taking a bit off the throw. Operates from under center and the shotgun. Not afraid of contact, and will attempt to block (cut or otherwise) on reverses or even downfield. Good hand work on play fakes. Throws accurately running to his right.

    Negatives
Converted high school safety. Regressed in his decision-making in 2008. Generated a lot of yardage on quick throws from a spread offense look. Does not make a great deep throw, more often than not floating it up for grabs. Struggles to get the ball between linebackers and safeties on deeper routes. Bird-dogs his primary receiver at times, but is improving at looking off coverage and going through progressions. Tries to float passes to open targets instead of just throwing the ball. Not consistent with his spiral, as the ball will come out of his hand a bit wobbly. Will not threaten a defense with the big run, although he does switch the ball to his outside hand to secure it in the open.

    (from NFLDraftScout.com)

Sounds like he's a good fit for the West Coast offense, but a bit of a project. I wouldn't mind this pick at all.
