Rams take Reggie Hodges (P, Ball State) in the Sixth Round
Reggie Hodges
Height: 6-03/8
Weight: 226
40-Yard: 4.90
College: Ball St.
Position: Punter
Class: Senior
Strengths: Had a big senior season averaging 42.6 yards per with a long of 65...Excels at pinning opponents inside their own 20-yard line...Can be a weapon in the field position game.
Weaknesses: Will have some punts blocked including 4 in 2004 alone...Doesn't have booming leg stength...Did not play in 2003 and sat out to focus on his studies.
Notes: Underrated player who was invited to the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis and could be a late round pick or top undrafted free agent.

Re: Rams take Reggie Hodges (P, Ball State) in the Sixth Round
Reggie Hodges
Grade: 3.37
Position: P
Class: Sr
School: Ball St.
Conference: MAC
Ht., Wt.: 6-0.5, 225
40 Time: 5.05
Selected by: St. Louis Rams
Round 6, pick 36 (210 overall) Grading System
BIO: First-team All-Conference selection as a senior after averaging 42.6 yards on 73 punts, pinning opponents inside the 20-yard line twenty-five times. Had a long of 65 yards.
POSITIVES: Explosive athlete and big legged punter. Quickly gets the ball off his foot, then tremendous hang time on punts and pins opponents deep. Can flip the field with long punts and also effective directional kicking.
NEGATIVES: Prone to an occasional shank and not overly consistent.
ANALYSIS: Coming off a great combine in which he presented himself as the strongest legged punter in attendance, Hodges now sits as the number two prospect at the position. Needs to prove his consistency yet a solid middle round choice.
PROJECTION: Late Sixth Round

I read that he gets rid of the ball quickly and was the #1 punter at the combine.

Not that it matters, but I would have preferred to see Derek Anderson with this pick.

Our last punters were shankers anyway! An occassional shank might not be bad!
I stopped going to the dentist.......I got tired of the cavity searches!

I heard he was related to Gil Hodges. Can anyone confirm that?
