Rams take Ronald Bartell (CB, Howard) in the second round

Size: good. School: Howard? Strengths: as Avenger puts it, "some real potential".

I'm only bothered by the Mauiram report: "doesn't like contact". :tough: Let's find out.

Scouts' take: Bartell Jr. is a developmental prospect who really struggled in the Senior Bowl. But he has awesome potential because of his rare blend of height, bulk and speed. He also is versatile enough to line up at either corner or safety in a cover-2 scheme, so he is a good fit for St. Louis.

Mel Kiper's take: Slipped a bit this year and had some tough times at the Senior Bowl, but NFL people liked the way he hung tough and learned from his mistakes. He did play some safety at the college level, but this may be a reach for a player with some questions about his ability to play against big-time competition.

I went back to some of the pre-drat sites to check his rating as a corner. several had him listed as the 12th best corner.

Certianly a special teams improvement - who may fit at Safety.

Maybe a little reach, but...he has the tools.

Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz indicated rookie CB Ronald Bartell, the team's second-round draft choice, will audition for a backup job at cornerback. However, Martz also feels he could be moved to free safety.

while i do agree that bartell may've been around in the 3rd round, i have to admit these numbers are impressive:
