Rams taking a vote

The Rams reportedly may end up taking a vote as an organization to determine who their pick will be at No. 2 overall.

By most accounts, the club is undecided between Glenn Dorsey and Chris Long. It's believed new VP of personnel Bill Devaney wants Long, while the defensive staff craves Dorsey. It'll come down to who thinks Adam Carriker can move back to end full time. We suspect Jim Haslett would know best.

If this is true it's sad...Bill Devaney should make the call if it's this close IMO.
Haslett may be gone next year if we go with a new HC.

Re: Rams taking a vote

Exactly Rambos. Devaney should be making these kinds of calls. He knows whats best for the Rams obviously, we've made great offseason moves, don't screw it up in the draft with a dumb vote. Come on, this isnt elementary school any more.

If it's a tie, will it extend to the fans?

Hmmm, a vote huh? Not a bad ploy to keep Atlanta guessing.

Re: Rams taking a vote

How many people get to vote? What happens if there is a tie?

I wonder if they are considering another player at this point of if they are just looking at Long and Dorsey.

Re: Rams taking a vote

I would like to see Haslett and his assistants challenge Devaney and Linehan to the best of three in rock paper scissors. Devaney would be handicaped in that one though unless he threw the lame duck.

These guys are not scouts, they are coaches. There is a difference. I say leave it up to Devaney.

Re: Rams taking a vote

Maybe the vote is wheher to take the trade with the Saints for Brown and a #10, or drafting a top tier defensive lineman. An offensive - defensive split vote with Linehan and Devaney splitting also. It goes to the trainer to break the vote and he says make the trade. Rams follow it up by drafting a wide receiver with the #10 pick. Rams set 2 NFL records next year finishing 8-8. Most points scored in a season and most points allowed in a season.

Re: Rams taking a vote

Will Smith and the number 10 pick would trump anything the number 2 pick could bring. I say the Rams need to insist on Smith instead of Brown and make the trade with the Saints.

Devaney: "Okay, so we'll have the Cheese Pizza with the garlic bread, but without chicken wings, and a side order of Chris Long. All in favour?"

Re: Rams taking a vote

It bothers me that many people on the Rams have a say in who is drafted. For example, why should Linehan, who has abdicated playcalling responsibilites, have any input into the pick.

THIS SUCKS if true. there should be no vote, i know you might like it falconator but your a falcon. What would you think if the falcons FO and coaches were taking a vote?

This is rediculous to me. Its Devaney's decision, not the coaches, not the management, but the head of personel. Am i worng, ist that part of the reason we hired him? if i am wrong correct me please, because im not positivly sure to be honest everything he is in charge of.

"In St. Louis, he'll have the title of executive vice president of player personnel. The Rams said he will oversee scouting and evaluating of college draft prospects, WILL RUN THE DRAFT ROOM, and will evaluate NFL players as well."
