Rams talking to Miami RB Ronnie Brown, also RB Addai & still Snelling

Rams talking to Miami RB Ronnie Brown
BY JIM THOMAS | Posted: Saturday, July 30, 2011 1:53 pm

After a hectic Friday in which the Rams agreed to terms with four veteran free agents, the St. Louis Rams haven't put down the phone on Saturday.

The team is expanding its search for a backup running back behind Pro Bowler Steven Jackson. The Rams are talking with Miami running back Ronnie Brown. They are believed also to be talking with Indianapolis running back Joseph Addai. Atlanta's Jason Snelling remains on the radar as well.

At defensive tackle, the team continues to talk with former Denver Bronco Justin Bannan. Indianapolis DT Dan Muir is another possibility.

man I sure would like Brown. He'd be a huge upgrade and could give Jackson tons of rest.

Brown would work for me too, as would Addai or Snelling. They'd all be big upgrades.

Brown is a similar back to Jackson, I was hoping for someone a bit quicker like Addai or Snelling.?

Similar to Jax? I couldn't see Jax running the wildcat (which I never want to see at a Rams game), but I would think to be able to run that, you have to be smart, shift and quick. Not bullish and brutish like Jax...

One of my best friends is a big Dolphins fan so I keep up with them some. I'd be very happy adding him as a backup. He's very good in the passing game, and is a good enough runner to give Jackson the relief he needs.

Would be a good pick up. His YPC was down last year, but before that his YPC was very good. Decent receiver too.

Snelling would be a good pickup behind Jackson. It's good to hear that there is STILL reports out ther comfirming that the Rams are trying to sign him.

The key for Brown would be staying healthy. Then again, maybe a backup role to Jackson is exactly what could keep Brown from getting hurt...

Still some good options out there, but I would like to see one brought in sooner rather than later.

I'm with you. What's the holdup here? DeSpags knows we need help in the backfield. Hopefully they're working on a move that will surprise us all!

With a glut of running backs out there, and any veterans we sign unable to practice with us yet, I see no reason to rush into anything. We need to get a really good deal for the Rams for any backup we sign and find the one that fits us best. Addai's back in Indy, and Brown is banged up. Snelling's who I'd go after of those whom we're rumored to have interest of. Still wish we'd kick McClain's tires...
    I believe!

Re: Rams talking to Miami RB Ronnie Brown, also RB Addai & still Snelling

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi confirms the Rams are the team "most interested" in and "doing the most homework on" free agent Ronnie Brown.

The Rams are also interested in Jason Snelling, which would "eliminate" Brown, according to Lombardi. The idea is to find a nickel tailback who can "complement" Steven Jackson while also functioning as the "Kevin Faulk of Josh McDaniels' offense." S-Jax's receiving numbers could take a hit this year.

The Giants, who were also looking at Jason Snelling, just re-signed Ahmad Bradshaw. This could leave the Rams as the frontrunner for Snelling's services.
