Re: Rams | Team meets with Ngata
I wonder how Rams fans would feel if the Ngata slipped and St. Louis used yet ANOTHER first round pick on a DT.

I wouldn't be thrilled about it but wouldn't hate it.

Re: Rams | Team meets with Ngata
It would certainly be one step closer toward running Haslett's 3-4.

Re: Rams | Team meets with Ngata
Not to the same extent, but perhaps. Ngata is an ideal 3-4 NT. Greenway could work as either a 4-3 SLB or a 3-4 rush OLB. He's versatile in that way, so it wouldn't necessarily mean as much as drafting Ngata. I think a better example would be Manny Lawson, who is definitely more geared toward the 3-4 OLB position.

If Haslett really wants to run the 3-4, I wouldn't be surprised to see him look at guys like Gabe Watson as a NT or maybe a Kamerion Wimbley or Elvis Dumervil as 3-4 rush LBs in the second and third rounds. Don't rule out ILB Kai Parham either in the second or third. It'll be interesting to see how the desire to play a 3-4 plays a role in who the Rams might draft.

Re: Rams | Team meets with Ngata
Im not sure the 3-4 is going to come in much right away, unless the Rams sign some FA suited to the system. The defense is currently still a bit too small for the 3-4 to really come in properly
say the team resigns Ryan Pickett. he plays NT in the 4-3, but would likely be an end in the 3-4. Leonard Little would have to play rush OLB in the 3-4 has he is nowhere near big enough to play the line. Pisa Tinoisamoa could play OLB in the 3-4, but im not sure if he would be a bit too small.
Claiborne could easily fill one of the MLB spots due to his size, and i think the Rams would have to draft a MLB to play alongside him, and maybe start in the 4-3. Manny Lawson would be a great pick up for a 3-4 though, he would be like Terrel Suggs is with the Ravens.
do you think Tinoisamoa could fit as an ILB in a 3-4? i would hate to have the teams best LB on the sidelines because he doesnt fit the system.

Re: Rams | Team meets with Ngata
If we draft Ngata, I'd be perfectly happy. This would be the first time we had a shot at the best DT in the draft, so it's not exactly the same as the times we drafted Kennedy and Lewis.

Re: Rams | Team meets with Ngata
We have had other times. The rams thought diffrently though. Jimmy Kennedy, Damion Lewis, Ryan Picket.

If I'm not mistaken, there were DTs more highly rated and chosen prior to each of those guys RF16. We blew it with Lewis, sure, but with the other guys didn't have the same choices.
