Rams tell Rob Gronkowski they fully intend to draft a TE

Arizona TE Rob Gronkowski revealed Thursday that the Rams informed him in interviews that they fully intend to draft a tight end.

Gronkowski also dismissed a prior report that he'd work out at U of A's March 12 Pro Day. He's targeting the 26th of next month. Gronkowski didn't resume running until 2-3 weeks ago, which is a concern considering he had back surgery some five months ago. He's still easily the draft's No. 2 tight end.

While its not unexpected that they would want to draft a TE, i do feel its too early to say that when we havent even gone through Free Agency where guys like Ben Watson and maybe Tony Scheffler can be had.

I wouldn't doubt it. Who is to say that the TE will be an earlier round? Hell we could pick a TE with Atlanta's seventh rounder, it would still be considered "drafting a tight end"

Thats true actually. Even if they were to pick up a starting TE in free agency, they could well draft a younger guy to groom behind him.

My only issue with that is that we have a couple of decent depth guys in Fells and Bajema, so if we do grab a free agent FA, and with the many holes on this team, drafting another TE could almost be a luxury.

If they do intend to draft a TE, that could mean the team has ruled out going after any of the Free Agent TEs
